May 16 became a special day for the Brazilian CS:GO community. Portuguese-speaking content creator Alexandre “Gaules” Borba has set a new viewership record for his channel and the whole PGL Major Antwerp 2022, as his stream of the event was watched by more than 700,000 concurrent viewers.
How Gaules set the new record?
Gaules is one of the most popular CS:GO community casters, who consistently provides commentary on esports matches on his Twitch channel. Moreover, he and his community are particularly excited about the matches of their countrymen from Brazil.
On May 16, Gaules streamed and commented on the PGL Legends Stage match between Imperial Esports and Cloud9. He gathered more than 700,000 concurrent viewers and thus set a new record for his Twitch channel, as well as for the Brazilian CS:GO community.
Moreover, the Brazilian Imperial won the match with a 2-1 score, so it was twice as big of a celebration for fans.

Viewership record for PGL Major Antwerp 2022
Apart from Gaules’ new achievement, the highest Peak Viewers count for the Major’s Legends Stage was also updated, as the Imperial vs. Cloud9 clash was watched by more than 1 million concurrent viewers across all channels, according to data by Esports Charts.
The record was reached on the decisive map and marked the event’s best performing match in terms of viewership so far. It attracted 32% more concurrent viewers than the game between Natus Vincere and Ninjas in Pyjamas, which ranked as the second most-watched match at the PGL Major Antwerp.
