The North American G2 Esports Valorant roster has announced it will make roster changes after a disappointing performance at the VCT Americas Kickoff. Michael “neT” Bernet was the one player singled out from the team.

The current iteration of G2 was initially the primary roster of The Guard, which neT was a part of from the beginning. He played alongside the three other founding members, Trent “trent” Cairns, Jacob “valyn” Batio, and Jonah “JonahP” Pulice, who still remain in the current G2 roster.

The Guard and neT became one of the top teams in the North American region in 2022 and became promising competitors coming into the following season. However, they could not replicate their success, slowly declining while other notable teams rose.

After finally managing some success from winning the North American Ascension tournament, The Guard completely exited from the Valorant scene, where G2 Esports picked up neT and the team.

Alongside the four original members, the explosive American Duelist Nathan “leaf” Orf became a nice finishing touch to the roster. The new iteration of G2 was set to deal some damage in the North American Kickoff tournament.

Unfortunately, G2 did not come swinging right off the bat. They were defeated by the new Evil Geniuses squad, which was a massive downgrade from the champion-winning roster. After being knocked down to the Lower Bracket, G2 could at least manage a victory against KRÜ Esports to make it to the Play-in stage.

In the Play-in, G2 dropped the ball against MIBR in a tight 2-1 series, meaning they did not have sufficient points to qualify for the Playoffs. Despite failing to make it through, G2 still played against Sentinels in a meaningless match, but they did defeat the eventual world champions 2-1.

Despite this sign of potential in the next season, the G2 organization still decided that neT would be cut from the team. Being the player in the sentinel role, neT was the second-lowest performing player for G2 in the Kickoff tournament, with in-game leader valyn being the lowest.

Fans were rather enraged that neT was the person to take the bullet because nobody thought he was the worst player in the team. The organization is currently facing a lot of backlash because fans brought up the fact that neT dragged the roster through its Tier 2 days just to get dropped after one bad event. People think that neT got “snaked” and betrayed by the team or organization.

The G2 Esports Valorant roster is left with:

  • Jonah “JonahP” Pulice
  • Trent “trent” Cairns
  • Jacob “valyn” Batio
  • Nathan “leaf” Orf

The former G2 player is left in a tough position, without a home right before the next big event. Most franchised organizations have already locked in their rosters for the Americas Stage 1 tournament, making it quite difficult for neT to find a new team to play for immediately.

According to rumors young prospect and former Evil Geniuses player Jacob “icy” Lange is likely going to be neT’s replacement in the team. Soon, all will be revealed, as G2 Esports will return to play in three days against Evil Geniuses in the Champions Tour 2024: Americas Stage 1 tournament.
