There is no doubt that it seems like several years since Tundra Esports and Team Secret met in Singapore in the finals of TI 2022. However, they are the two least expected and extremely exciting international combatants in Dota 2.

However, the 2023 season is already underway. So, after a stop in Lima, Peru, one of the longest-running esports will return to Europe for the second Major of the year. With the Winter Split almost ending between February 22 and March 5, the ESL organizer of these events has announced where the second Dota 2 tour will be in 2023.

Dota 2 Major Berlin location and dates

As mentioned, and as the name suggests, the Dota 2 Major returns to Europe, specifically to Berlin, Germany. This city is home to different esports, and there is no doubt that it wants to expand in the world of video games, as let’s remember that there are exclusive League of Legends and VALORANT studios.

The Dota 2 Berlin Major 2023 is being played at the Velodrom Arena. This iconic cycling venue will be transformed into a Dota 2 battlefield. There is no doubt that this location is ideal for such large-scale events. You can find all the services available, such as fast food, stores, bars, train stations, etc.

The tournament will be held from April 26 to May 7, 2023. The best six teams on the planet will turn the Velodrom Arena into a real battlefield, as these exclusive teams of 18 participants are the ones who will have the joy of playing live in front of a live audience.

Teams for the Dota 2 Berlin Major

The Dota 2 Berlin Major teams have not yet been decided. However, the composition will be as follows:

• 4x Western Europe
• 3x Eastern Europe
• 2x North America
• 3x Southeast Asia
• 4x China
• 2x South America

Prize pool

We all know that this esports is used to hand out completely unmatched amounts when it comes to the leading annual event, The International. However, there is still a long way to go for the Majors.

The prize pool of the Dota 2 Berlin Major will be $500,000, which will be distributed among the best teams of the tournament. But, it has not yet been released what the distribution of the prizes will be.

Tournament format

With the world’s 18 best teams on the pitch and only six of them reaching the final climax live in front of the fans. The Berlin Major will be divided into three stages.

The teams will be divided into two groups of nine, playing only one round, best-of-two matches. The top six teams from each group will then advance to a two-legged knockout phase.

The top four from each group will advance to the Upper Bracket. While the fifth and sixth-place teams will play in the Lower Bracket. Finally, they will play for the six spots in the Velodrom Arena for the ESL One trophy and a spectacular cash prize.
