It seems that at the end of a spectacular career as a player, which spanned over two decades, TaZ will get the opportunity to coach one of the best CS2 teams in the world.

Around a week ago, G2 announced that Swani, will leave the team and will be replaced by someone else. Now we know who they had in mind, and this will likely prove to be an excellent choice for the club.

TaZ was an extraordinary player who was part of the famous Virtus.pro team that had exceptional results in CS:GO between 2014 – 2017. Among other things, that team won ESL Major Series One Katowice 2014, ESL ESEA Pro League Invitational, ELEAGUE Season 1, and DreamHack Masters Las Vegas 2017.

In total, TaZ made nearly 750.000 from tournament prize money, which makes him a very successful player. But more importantly, he’s been around from the beginning of Counter-Strike. He was around 15 when Counter-Strike became a thing and he has played every single version of the game.

This kind of experience should give him the knowledge needed to make good decisions and assist G2 in their quest to win trophies. This is a world-class team that has already demonstrated its capacity to be the best. All that is needed now is a bit of guidance from a good coach.

The team’s IGL, HooXi, is already quite skilled at what he does. But the coach has his role and can bring a lot to a roster made up of legendary players like NiKo and m0NESY.

G2’s chances and biggest rivals in 2024

2024 will be a tough year for G2 because of teams like FaZe Clan, Team Vitality, and at least a handful of other world-class competitors. When you’re trying to simply be a top 10 team, things are not that complicated because all you need to do is finish in the top 12 at every S-tier tournament.

But when you’re trying to be a top three team, you need to constantly finish in the top 6, which is easier said than done. Even the most consistent teams are struggling to qualify for every playoffs stage, and once you get there, every match is difficult.

G2 now have two problems to deal with: integrating nexa and learning to play using the philosophy and methods brought by TaZ.
