As mentioned in a previous article, everything seems to indicate that FURIA’s guys adapt much more to the new team lineup as more tournaments and matches go by. This ESL Pro League S18 happened this way since, after falling to the Lower Bracket, the Brazilian squad was between a rock and a hard place, as they had to win two matches in one day to get their ticket to the next phase.

However, determination and great team play led the Brazilian squad to two excellent 2-0 victories over Grayhound and GamerLegion to seal their ticket to the ESL Pro League S18 playoffs.

Undoubtedly, they did the heroic deed, as many on the scene expected GamerLegion to take the victory simply because they were the runners-up in the Paris Major. However, the Brazilian squad shined throughout Sunday, and their efforts were truly rewarded.

Let’s see what happened in FURIA’s ESL Pro League S18 Lower Bracket matches.

FURIA beat Grayhound Gaming for the second time in the tournament

FURIA and GhG faced each other for the second time in this ESL Pro League S18, and as it happened in the first BO3, the Brazilian squad took a solid 2-0 victory. However, the Australians fought quite a fight in this series in the Lower Bracket, as they were very close to winning the first map.

It all started on Inferno, GhG’s map pick, where we witnessed a real match that had to be defined by Overtime. In the first half, FURIA deployed a very aggressive offense and took a partial victory by 8-7. Then, with the change of sides, the Australian squad woke up completely and gradually got closer to FURIA, and, finally, the score was equalized 15-15.

Finally, after 6 rounds in Overtime, FURIA took the victory by 19-17 to start on the right foot in this series.

Then, the teams moved to Vertigo, FURIA’s map pick, where we again observed that Brazilians love this map. In the first half, with FURIA on their T-side, the Brazilian squad annihilated GhG’s defense and took an 11-4 victory. Finally, after 9 rounds in the second half, FURIA Esports won by 16-8. As a result, the Brazilian squad advanced to the Lower Bracket final to play for the fourth and final playoff spot in Group A.

FURIA qualify for EPL S18 playoffs by beating GamerLegion 2-0

There is no doubt that FURIA came into this series with a lot of confidence after crushing GhG hours before. However, in this opportunity, they had to measure themselves against one of the best teams of this 2023 season. However, experience and determination came to the fore, as the Brazilians were far superior to GamerLegion. As a result, FURIA won 2-0 to seal their ticket to the ESL Pro League S18 playoffs.

The series started in Mirage, FURIA’s map pick, where we witnessed a spectacular back-and-forth match. In the first half, GamerLegion managed to take a 9-6 victory. Then, at the change of sides, FURIA woke up and hit back in the same way (9-6) to even the score 15-15 and send the map to Overtime. Finally, after only 4 rounds in Overtime, FURIA took the victory by 19-15.

On the second map, Overpass, things changed radically. It seems the GamerLegion guys left all the fuel on the first map. Starting from the CT side, FURIA Esports took a comfortable 11-4 victory in the first half. While it is true that this map is not the Brazilian squad’s favorite, there is no denying that this was all thanks to the great level of Andrei “arT” Piovezan.

Finally, at the sides’ turn, FURIA won the first 5 rounds to seal their crushing 16-4 victory. In addition, they secured their ticket to the playoffs of this ESL Pro League S18.
