Just like FIFA 14 and FIFA 18, FIFA 23 will have its own World Cup mode, and its launch date has finally been announced! As expected, the World Cup mode will not appear in FIFA 23 Ultimate Team, but will be its own free DLC linked to the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.

On Wednesday, November 9, you can finally start the new World Cup mode. EA Sports announced the launch day of the mode shortly before the start of the World Cup.

The mode lets players play the World Cup themselves with their favorite teams. You can also try out the latest World Cup Heroes.

World Cup mode as a standalone DLC

EA Sports releases the popular mode as a standalone DLC. However, even if the World Cup mode will not be a pat of FIFA 23 Ultimate Team, you can still count on the fact that there will be enough World Cup content in FUT. Supposedly, a promo will appear in FUT.

In World Cup mode, swap actions, special goals, and squad building challenges await players, but that’s not all. There will also be time-limited cards that you can only use during the event and that will disappear from the club afterwards. If the leaker FUT Sheriff is to be believed, these are the World Cup features in FUT 23.

World Cup Heros

World Cup Heroes like Rudi Völler and Dirk Kuyt will also be added to Ultimate Team as player cards along with other variants of the usual FUT Heroes that are specially dedicated to the World Cup. They will replace the old heroes in the packs, aiming to honor the legends of the sport who have created unforgettable moments at tournament finals.

You can add special FUT Heroes player cards to your team on November 11. And if you’re still not happy with your FIFA Ultimate Team composition, you should check out our guide

Incidentally, 32 countries that have qualified for the World Cup through regional and international tournaments are taking part in the World Cup in Qatar. Of course, you can also play these countries in World Cup mode when they appear in FUT on November 9.

  • Group A: Netherlands, Qatar, Ecuador and Senegal
  • Group B: England, United States, Iran and Wales
  • Group C: Argentina, Mexico, Poland and Saudi Arabia
  • Group D: France, Denmark, Australia and Tunisia
  • Group E: Spain, Germany, Japan and Costa Rica
  • Group F: Belgium, Morocco, Canada and Croatia
  • Group G: Brazil, Serbia, Cameroon and Switzerland
  • Group H: Portugal, Uruguay, South Korea and Ghana

The wait is almost over and soon nothing will stand in the way of the World Cup!
