FaZe Clan Win IEM Chengdu

After a long and challenging tournament in which they were defeated at one point by Astralis, FaZe Clan won another CS2 trophy and clearly showed why they are ranked the number one team in the world.

This was a great performance by karrigan, broky, and the rest of their squad. The Grand Final against MOUZ was a masterclass. Nobody expected FaZe to win so easily but it seems that karrigan’s experience is a huge plus for his team.

Very few IGLs can do what he does and as long as he continues to play for FaZe, they will remain one of the world’s best teams.

FaZe Clan started IEM Chengdu in group B and won the first match against Nemiga Gaming. The score was 13 – 8. After this promising start, everyone expected FaZe to win against Astralis. The Danes led by dev1ce had failed to qualify for the Copenhagen Major while FaZe played in the Grand Final of the tournament.

But, to everyone’s surprise, Astralis won the match with ease. The scores were 7 – 13 on Ancient and 4 – 13 on Nuke. In the lower bracket, karrigan encountered two determined opponents: Cloud9 and FlyQuest. But in both matches, he led his team to a 2 – 0 victory. Each time, FaZe struggled on one map and won the other with ease.

Because they didn’t win their group, FaZe Clan started the playoffs in the quarterfinals and had to defeat Team Liquid. After a very intense match, they eventually did, 2 – 1. The scores were 13 – 16 on Nuke, 13 – 11 on Anubis, and 10 – 13 on Mirage.

Despite losing the match, Liquid showed that they are now almost as good as the world’s best teams.

In the semifinals, FaZe encountered Astralis for the second time in this tournament. But this time, karrigan was much better prepared to deal with them. The scores were 10 – 13 on Nuke, 13 – 5 on Ancient, and 7 – 13 on Inferno. Despite losing badly on Ancient, FaZe proved to be the stronger side.

In the Grand Final against MOUZ, the first map was challenging for FaZe, partly because it was MOUZ’s pick. But in the end, they won 10 – 13 and then crushed MOUZ 6 – 13 on Nuke as well.

Thanks to this victory and the 2^nd place they obtained at the recent Major, FaZe Clan is now ranked as the number 1 CS2 team in the world.
