The first two rounds of matches in the first European RMR for BLAST.tv Paris Major ended with some very interesting results. The strongest teams in the tournament, FaZe Clan and Natus Vincere, confirmed their strength and won their first two matches.

Unfortunately for them, they will meet in the third round, which guarantees that at least one of them will finish the tournament with an imperfect record. The remaining results were rather surprising.

Results of the first two rounds

Going into the tournament, everyone was expecting OG to do well. But so far, they’ve played poorly. The defeat they suffered at the hands of FaZe is perfectly understandable. It’s not easy to face the strongest team in the world. But the fact that they also lost against Team GamerLegion, at an even worse score (16-9) is disappointing.

OG could still make a comeback but it won’t be easy. They need to win three consecutive matches to secure a top eight spot, or at least two of them to get one last chance in the EU Decider Bracket. Their next match will be against SAW.

The biggest surprises of the first two rounds were caused by Fnatic and B8. Both teams won their matches, despite being regarded as being relatively weak compared to a lot of the other competitors.

In B8’s case, we can say with certainty that this is a little-known team full of little-known players. But they might make a name for themselves if they qualify for the Paris Major.

Competitors like Apeks, 1win, Virtus.pro, MOUZ, Team Falcons, Into The Breach, and Bad News Eagles did pretty much what was expected of them. They lost one match and won the other.

In Sprout’s case, the team was expected to get good results but did the exact opposite. And their opponents were not even some of the scary participants. Both Falcons and Into The Breach defeated them quite easily, which almost guarantees that Sprout will not qualify for the Major.

Round 3 preview

The next competitive day will be crucial in determining the qualified teams. The teams that are likely to win are FaZe Clan, Fnatic, Apeks, 1win, Virtus.pro, MOUZ, OG, and Sprout.

After this round, we will know the first two qualified teams and the first two eliminated teams. For the qualified teams, the joy will be amplified by the Legend Status ticket they’ll receive, which will allow them to skip the first stage of the Paris Major.
