The experienced Jacky “EternaLEnVy” Mao has announced that he is retiring completely from the Dota 2 scene, which generally encompasses streaming and gaming. This is a tough loss for the Dota 2 scene, as the former LCS player was for 11 years intensely involved with Valve’s MOBA.

The player explained his reasons, and it has drawn attention that, unlike many, he claimed that streaming is not for him, let alone playing for fun. While it is true that many professionals recently announced their retirement to dedicate themselves to streaming, it is no secret that all gamers like challenges and playing competitively. Besides, not everyone is always comfortable with a camera in their face, and it’s completely understandable.

EternaLEnVy announces his imminent retirement from Dota 2

Through a message on his Twitter account, EternaLEnVy announced his complete retirement from Dota 2. This includes his streams and, of course, the game as such. In addition, the player shared that his next stream will be the last at this stage of his life.

The 31-year-old former Cloud9 player stated that it had been everything for him within DotA, and he showed a picture with a mousepad designed by him.

Then, the player shared a Tweet where he was completely grateful to the community for how they received his news. However, according to EternaLEnVy, he did not expect the farewell from his fans to be so good. Furthermore, he said he had only shared some thoughts before leaving the Dota 2 scene for good.

EternaLEnVy and the stream didn’t get along so well

Then, the 31-year-old former pro clarified that, at this stage of his life, he wants to “chase” his dreams as “a straight arrow” and pointed out that he has already found a goal to which he wants to dedicate himself.

About EternaLEnVy

There is no doubt that EternaLEnVy has been one of the most impactful players and personalities in the Dota 2 scene throughout its history. However, his behavior has always been in the headlines, such as kicking Fnatic in 2018 in Katowice.

But, most fans of the player and the LCS claim that EternaLEnVy has a unique personality and will be missed for that. Also, his streams were very funny; thanks to that, many memes were created on his mousepad.

EternaLEnVy retired as a professional in July 2022. Since then, the player has been making streams, and now he has said enough is enough.

The truth is, when an experienced player says goodbye completely to any esports, the community will always feel his absence. On the other hand, we all know that the flame of our favorite video game will always be present in our hearts, so we can not rule out the idea that in the future, we will see him again, at least do one or another Dota 2 stream.

Finally, we can only wish the best of success to EternaLEnVy and thank him for everything he gave to the Dota 2 scene.
