Eternal Fire champion of the CCT Central Europe Malta Finals
After exactly 1722 days, a Turkish Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team manages to lift a champion trophy in a LAN tournament. Eternal Fire defeated Kosovo’s Bad New Eagles in the grand final, scoring 2-1 to take the honors.
Eternal Fire’s path in this tournament did not start as they dreamed, as they lost in their first game of the group stage, precisely against BNE, with a score of 14-16. However, this did not impede the team’s showing their best form, as they defeated HONORIS in the elimination match with a score of 2-0. Finally, they made it through to the playoffs with a win over forZe in the deciding game 2-1.
The Upper Bracket semifinals could not have gone better for the Turkish team, as they crushed a completely shell-shocked ENCE with a spectacular Ismailcan “XANTARES” Dörtkardeş, who had a 1.35 rating according to HLTV. Eternal Fire took a crushing 2-0 victory to advance to the Upper Bracket final.
At this point, the Turks fell to BNE with a 1-2 score, which sent them to the Lower Bracket, where they applied the second dose of thrashing to ENCE, also 2-0.
Bad New Eagles vs. Eternal Fire – Grand Final – Recap
The Grand Final was a spectacular revenge match, as BNE had sent the Turks to the Lower Bracket. Eternal Fire chose Overpass as the first map, Kosovo chose Mirage, and Vertigo was the defining map.
Map 1 – Overpass
Eternal Fire started spectacularly from T on their selected map. With the effective play of the team’s star player, XANTARES, which dominated their opponents in the pistol round, they closed the first half with a 10-5 lead. The Turks started the second half well, reaching 14-5. BNE recovered afterward and managed to put the map 15-12. Finally, keeping calm at the end of the game, Eternal Fire took a 1-0 lead in the grand final with 16-12.
Map 2 – Mirage
Now we have the opposite side of the coin, as the one which started well on the second map, Mirage was BNE. With an excellent T-side, Bad New Eagles managed to win the first half with a crushing 10-5. They then continued to dominate the match and put up a solid defense to take the win 16-9 and send the series to the third map, Vertigo.
Map 3 – Vertigo
Finally, the map that would define it all is Vertigo. BNE started on the right foot by taking a 6-2 lead. However, Eternal Fire reacted to take the first half with an excellent 8-7.
After a give-and-take in the second half of the game, the teams finished with a spectacular 15-15 score that sent the decisive game to overtime. However, the Turks were solid in overtime to take the 19-16 victory. They finally won the trophy as champions of the CCT Central Europe Malta Finals.
