It’s been several days since the official Twitter account shared a post where they asked, “What are you doing next Wednesday?” and we’ve already reached the day, so everything seems to indicate that we are closer than ever, just hours away, rather, from the imminent launch of CS2.

However, it could be a serious question for all the players in Malta playing the ESL Pro League S18 playoffs, as both they and ESL would be in talks to make a drastic decision regarding the game. And it is that ESL Pro League S18 could reportedly jump to CS2 immediately in the middle of the playoffs. Likewise, all this will happen only if the players and team agree.

ESL Pro League S18 could make the switch to CS2

Days ago, Valve gave a hint regarding the official release of CS2 with a question in a post on Twitter. As a result, the game developers prompted all players worldwide to get ready because Wednesday, September 27 (today) could be the imminent release of CS2.

However, the ESL Pro League S18 playoffs continue today; when the Round of 12 matches were played, many began to ask questions about what would happen in the tournament.

Likewise, everything indicates that the ESL already asked players and teams still alive in the tournament if they agreed to switch to CS2 in the semifinals or in the Grand Final itself. All this, according to a report by Ryan Friend of Dust2.us.

According to the report, a decision has not yet been made, and the team’s decision is completely unknown. However, making this change during such an important tournament as the ESL Pro League would be challenging.

So far, 70 matches have been played in this tournament, and a switch to CS2 in the final stages is unheard of. In addition, there is also the fact that most of the teams have not officially started practicing in CS2, so it is unlikely that this switch will happen.

The imminent release of CS2

Through the official Counter-Strike Twitter/X account, Valve changed its banner with an image that mentions “Dawn of The Final Day,” making us think that September 26, 2023, was the last day of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

The release of CS2 in the next few hours may mean that the esports timeline will be moved forward. Also, HLTV claims that IEM Sydney, the next big professional Counter-Strike event that kicks off on October 16, maybe the first major tournament on CS2.

Nothing is confirmed yet, and the switch to CS2 will most likely not be made. However, we will keep an eye out for all information about it.
