We are getting closer to knowing all the teams participating in the ESL Challenger Jonköping 2023, as the closed qualifiers are ending in all world regions.

In this opportunity, we have Looking4Org gave a blow on the table by beating Team Spirit in the Grand Final of the European region to seal their direct ticket to the main tournament to be played in Sweden from November 24 to 26, 2023.

There is no doubt that this is a somewhat surprising result, considering that Team Spirit was the clear favorite to win. However, this is a small sign that the CS2 competitive scene is more balanced than ever.

On the other hand, we can also mention that this was the first tournament officially played in CS2, so we can say that the era of the new game has begun.

Looking4Org’s path in the closed qualifiers

Looking4Org’s path in these closed qualifiers for the tournament in Sweden at the end of November started in the worst possible way. In the first match of the Upper Bracket, the team lost 1-2 to Team Spirit, which sent them directly to the Lower Bracket.

Then, in the LB Round 1 match, the Looking4Org boys pulled off a pleasant surprise by beating BIG 2-1. The hype from the win over BIG carried over to LB Round 2, where they crushed Apeks 2-0 to stay alive in these close qualifiers.

Finally, Looking4Org defeated Aurora Gaming and Movistar Riders in Rounds 3 and 4, respectively, with a 2-0 and 2-1 score, to seal their ticket to the Grand Final.

Team Spirit vs. Looking4Org – Grand Final Recap

Team Spirit was the clear favorite to win in the Grand Final match of these European qualifiers for the ESL Challengers Jonköping. However, the guys from Looking4Org found a way to hurt their rivals from the beginning of the series to take a resounding 2-0 victory. Also, remember that this tournament was played in CS2, i.e., MR12 format.

It all started in Anubis, Looking4Org’s map pick, where we had an excellent match from start to finish. In the first half, the teams gave their all on their respective sides to finish with an even score of 6-6. However, at the change of sides, Looking4Org deployed an extraordinary offensive commanded by Ali “hAdji” Haïnouss to take the victory by 13-9.

Then, in the second map, Nuke, things changed completely, as Looking4Org arrived with the morale sky high and an extraordinary level of play.

In the first half, the Spirit offense had nothing to do with the defensive approach of their rivals and ended up losing with a partial score of 4-8. Finally, Looking4Org won 5 of the 8 rounds to seal their 13-7 victory at the change of sides. As a result, Looking4Org qualify directly for the main tournament in Sweden at the end of November 2023.
