AYANEO to Introduce Updated Handheld Gaming Console With AMD Ryzen 6000 APU

After building up an inordinate amount of hype, the folks over at AYANEO have decided to postpone the announcement of their upcoming handheld gaming console — the one sporting AMD’s Ryzen 6000 “Rembrandt” APUs — to January 4th, 2022. It’s no coincidence that that’s precisely the date when AMD is going to reveal its latest and greatest mobile APUs.

So, it seems that AYANEO had to readjust its plans as AMD wants to retain “top billing” and be the first one to make the announcement — wholly understandable, all things considered.

So, if you’re into portable gaming consoles and have a thing for surprisingly potent iGPUs (like so many of us do), you definitely have a date to look forward to!

AYANEO + Ryzen 6000 | A Match Made in Heaven

Contrary to certain comments we’ve come across online, this upcoming AYANEO refresh is by no means a Steam Deck rip-off. Such reasoning couldn’t be further from the truth as AYANEO was amongst the first companies to create such a product years ago.

But as it’s so often the case, it’s not the first company that does something that ends up generating an obscene amount of profit, but rather the one that delivers the most polished, well-rounded experience. In that sense, Valve has surely learned a ton from AYANEO’s mistakes and will no doubt reap the rewards once its oh-so-hyped portable gaming console finally starts shipping to customers.

AYANEO is promising “high performance AMD cores” and “cutting-edge innovations” which, in all fairness, is just marketing hogwash used in an attempt to create hype — a bit of shoddy marketing copy, if you will. Fortunately, we know for a fact that AMD’s upcoming Ryzen 6000 APUs will pack one heck of a punch, and if AYANEO can find a way to harness their immense potential they’ll no doubt end up with an absolute winner on their hands.

It’s worth mentioning, however, that their products had always sold at a premium, unlike Valve’s Steam Deck that’s basically as affordable as it gets. Did Valve undercut their direct competitors? Without a shadow of a doubt, but we’re not so sure AYANEO will be able to follow suit and compete on even footing; this company simply isn’t as powerful as Valve nor can it operate on a loss. A challenging position to be in, no doubt.

We have so many questions pertaining to both AYANEO’s upcoming console and the whole “Rembrandt” APU line-up; fortunately, we won’t have to wait long to see them answered. AMD reps are scheduled to take the CES stage in just a few days so stay tuned!
