EDward Gaming and Bilibili Gaming advance to VCT Champions 2023 playoffs

The VALORANT Champions 2023 Group Stage is already history, and after the last day of competition, EDward Gaming and Bilibili Gaming both won to qualify for the tournament playoffs.

EDG categorically left Giants on the road, crushing them by 2-0, while Bilibili Gaming applied the same dose (2-0), and eliminated the North American squad, NRG.

We have undoubtedly enjoyed a really exciting tournament, with some surprises and some disappointments. However, all the teams that qualified for the playoffs are justly deserving, so we expect the intensity and level of the matches to increase in the tournament’s next phase.

EDG annihilate Giants by 2-0

The first match of this last day of the VALORANT Champions Group Stage left us with a crushing victory of EDward Gaming by 2-0 against Giants. The Spanish squad could do practically nothing against EDG, who had Wan “CHICHOO” Shunji in a spectacular level of play.

It all started in Split, the Giants map pick, where the Chinese started with an excellent pace of play to take a 9-3 partial victory in the first half. Then, at the change of sides, EDG won the first 3 rounds to quickly place themselves just one round away from winning the first map of the series. Giants responded by winning three consecutive rounds, but there went their comeback attempt, and EDG took the 13-6 victory.

The teams moved to Fracture in the second map, where we had a similar development to the first map. In the first half, the Chinese team took the lead again and took a partial victory by 8-4. At the change of sides, Giants tried again to wake up to equalize the series and got to 7-10 on the scoreboard. However, it was not enough, as EDG won the last three rounds to take the 13-7 victory.

Bilibili Gaming pass the steamroller to NRG

In the second match of the day and the last of the VALORANT Champions 2023 Group Stage, we watched as Bilibili Gaming crushed NRG 2-0. As a result, only one North American team remains alive in the tournament, Evil Geniuses.

The series began in Bind, the map pick of NRG Esports, where we could observe two opposite sides of the coin. In the first half, NRG managed to take an excellent partial victory by 7-5, making us think they would be very strong in their map pick. However, Bilibili Gaming woke up in a great way to win 8 of the 11 rounds played and thus take the victory by 13-10.

Then, things were completely different in Ascent, since this time, Bilibili Gaming started on the right foot and got an excellent partial victory in the first half by 8-4. Then, at the change of sides, NRG could not overcome the defense of the Chinese squad and ended up losing by 5-13.
