Dubai Esports and Games Festival unveils Education through Gaming initiative

The Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment is going to introduce a groundbreaking initiative to promote education through gaming among students of the United Arab Emirates. Here is everything we know about this initiative.

The Dubai Esports and Gaming festivals will take place from June 21 to June 25, offering an exciting platform for enthusiasts. DFRE (Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment) acknowledges the tremendous economic potential of gaming in Dubai’s growth. With a focus on promoting gaming and esports as important tools for education and employment, DFRE aims to showcase the opportunities they provide.

Throughout the event, students will have the opportunity to explore the importance of science, engineering, technology, and mathematics (STEM) through the lens of esports and gaming. It’s a unique initiative that highlights the benefits of these fields while fostering interest and participation in the gaming and esports industry.

‘Education through Gaming’ program: The Minecraft Education Challenge

If the goal is to promote education through gaming, there is no better choice than Minecraft. Undoubtedly, it is the most popular game worldwide, including in the UAE. Recognizing this, DFRE has introduced “The Minecraft Education Challenge” to support this initiative. The challenge will take place from June 22 to 25 at the Dubai Exhibition Centre. Furthermore, GameExpo will also broadcast it live from June 22 onwards.

The qualifiers for this event will take place in May and June at schools selected by the organizers. Students aged 7 and above will form groups of three for the duration of the challenge, leading up to the final.

The DEF Minecraft Education Challenge combines learning and gaming in a fun way. Students will explore a Dubai-inspired Pirate Cove Bay map, searching for falcon eggs in a Scavenger Hunt Challenge. The challenge focuses on STEM learning and completing objectives. It highlights how gaming can positively impact student learning and development.

Dubai Esports Festival will follow the success of 2022

This is the second edition of the festival followed by the high success 2022’s event. However, this time it is promising to be even bigger and better. This year, it will feature an updated GameExpo Summit and a larger GameExpo space for gamers. The event will offer an exceptional conference experience with more international speakers and collaborative sessions with the Dubai Future Foundation. It provides a great opportunity for local and global participation in gaming.
