The qualifiers for DreamLeague Season 22 are over and we can finally take a look at all the participants. Based on the results, this will likely turn out to be one of the best Dota 2 events of the year.

A total of 16 teams will compete in the tournament and 75% of them come from qualifiers, so their strength has already been tested, at least against regional rivals. This guarantees that we will watch matches played between the best of the best.

DreamLeague S22 will take place between February 25 – March 10 and will offer $1 million in prize money.

Participants

Here are the 16 teams who will compete in DreamLeague S22:

  • BetBoom Team
  • Gaimin Gladiators
  • Xtreme Gaming
  • Team Liquid
  • OG
  • Tundra Esports
  • Team Secret
  • Team Spirit
  • Virtus.pro
  • Klim Sani4
  • Azure Ray
  • iG
  • Aurora
  • Team Falcons
  • Shopify Rebellion
  • Heroic

It feels a bit strange to see Heroic competing in Dota 2 and qualifying for a prestigious event like DreamLeague S22. But to be fair, they do have some of the best players in South America. Both Elvis “Scofield” Pena and Hector “K1” Rodriguez were part of the beastcoast roster that finished 13th – 16th at TI10 and 7th – 8th at TI11.

In 2023, K1 was also part of nouns and managed to finish in the top eight at The International 12.

The list of participants includes many great names. Everyone is curious to see the new OG roster in action. We know that Sebastien “Ceb” Debs is determined to win a few more trophies before he retires. But we also know that Team Spirit, Gaimin Gladiators, and Team Liquid are probably just as strong as they were in 2023.

This means that the odds of beating them, without figuring out their understanding of the current meta, are very slim. All three teams have a unique way of abusing timings, hero combinations, and item synergies.

In the case of Spirit, their roster has been competing as a unit for three years. During this time, they’ve only changed one player and then proved that he was not irreplaceable by winning both Riyadh Masters 2023 and The International 12. In the process, they became the second team in the world (after OG) to achieve this performance.

We can’t know for sure right now, but we must suspect that the Chinese teams are also quite strong. They’ve all changed their rosters to some extent, but the presence of world-class players in their rosters should allow them to obtain good results.
