CSGO esporter s1mple donates 29,000 euros to Ukrainian army

Popular CSGO streamer and esporter Aleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev has donated one million Ukrainian hryvnias (or just over 29,000 euros) to the Ukrainian army.

He revealed this in a post on his Instagram Stories. The donation comes just after s1mple made an emotional plea for unity at the Intel Extreme Masters Katowice tournament last weekend.

Russia invaded Ukraine last week after President Vladimir Putin gave the order for a “special military operation” to his Russian troops. The military operation killed hundreds of innocent civilians and displaced thousands of Ukrainians. As Russia seeks to occupy various parts of the independent nation.

This devastating news has undoubtedly shocked s1mple, the Ukrainian player of the popular first-person shooter Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, is also playing for the Kiev-based esports organization Natus Vincere. S1mple has tweeted a lot about the Russia-Ukraine conflict since it broke out.

IEM Katowice

S1mple spent much of last weekend at IEM Katowice, an annual tournament in Poland where many esports teams for games such as CSGO and League of Legends compete for a huge prize pool of 1 million Dollars (about 900,000 euros). S1mple and his team at Natus Vincere were unfortunately beaten out of the tournament by G2 Esports on February 25, but before leaving the stage, he made a speech calling for “peace for Ukraine and the whole world.
