Some CS:GO teams really can’t catch a break. Complexity’s CS:GO Manager Graham “messioso” Pitt has revealed how crazy and tight the team’s travel schedule is this year.

In recent weeks, the esports community has argued about whether esports pros should focus on entertainment and building a brand rather than purely winning. But how are they even supposed to do that with such busy schedules?

Too much pressure

Player burnout has been a significant challenge for successful CS:GO teams in the past due to the constant need for training and busy tournament schedules. Adding to this, when these players are also expected to create content or stream for their own brand or organization, it can become overwhelming. They don’t have much free time as it is and then after all, even as an esport player, you want at least a little privacy sometimes. In addition, the players are constantly under pressure and also have to deal with the hatred of some fans when the team loses.

While it’s true that streaming and content creation are good for players’ careers and the popularity and reach of their esports organizations, it just seems to be incredibly difficult time-wise. Plus, the spotlight isn’t for everyone either. Some players may simply be more reclusive and not want to be in the public eye permanently.

Around the world

Esports teams, especially in CS:GO, were always facing challenging travel schedules, that include extensive journeys across multiple continents and many countries in order to compete in tournaments, qualifiers, or training sessions abroad. To point this out, Complexity’s CS:GO manager messioso recently took to Twitter and revealed the team’s extensive travel statistics, which were truly mind-boggling.

So far in 2023, the North American team has already taken 99 flights. With all players combined, this accounts for a total of 384 hours spent in planes and 114 spent in airports. As for accommodation, they spent 310 nights in hotels across five different countries.

Taking a look at which events Complexity participated in so far this season, there were multiple big LAN events that all took place in Europe, namely:

  • BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2023
  • IEM Katowice 2023
  • ESL Pro League Season 17

For a North American team, that’s surely a lot, while there are many events being hosted in their home region.
