The last months of DRX were extremely complicated, as they did not have the desired success in the VCT Masters Tokyo 2023 after finishing in second place in the VCT Pacific League after losing 2-3 in the Grand Final against Paper Rex. However, after two consecutive victories, the team returned strong and secured their place in the VALORANT Champions 2023 playoffs.

DRX and its impressive awakening

After taking second place in the VCT Pacific League 2023, DRX had a terrible result at the VCT Masters Tokyo, where they finished between 7th-8th place. As a result, the organization had its worst result in international competition since the 2021 season. Also, it is worth remembering that this team is one of the best in the Asian continent.

However, it seems that the lineup had a clean slate, as they came to the VCT Champions 2023 at an impressive level of play, and right now, they are favorites in the tournament.

So far, we have DRX winning both matches they played in Los Angeles, CA. The first was against LOUD, the reigning VCT Champions 2022 champions, while the second was against NaVi, in another intense and exciting match.

DRX and its power in Group Stage

Since the beginning of VALORANT’s competitive scene in international tournaments, DRX has always shown great strength in the Group Stage of events, and this VALORANT Champions 2023 is no exception.

Despite being drawn in the Group of Death, DRX won its first two matches to be the only team so far to have its name entered in the playoffs. Now, the team has enough days to prepare and, above all, rest before the start of the tournament’s next phase.

So far in VCT Champions 2023, DRX IGL Kim “stax” Gu-taek has shown an important face in the team’s structure. While it is true that the players in the DRX lineup are very young, as none of them are older than 23 years old, stax is an experienced player in the VALORANT competitive scene.

On the other hand, Kim “MaKo” Myeong-gwan also stated that DRX is now stronger than ever, thanks to communication in every round. In addition, he also mentioned that the team is more united and, as a result, the results speak for themselves.

As mentioned, DRX will now have to prepare for their first match of the next phase of the VCT Champions 2023. Currently, the teams continue to fight to stay alive in the tournament while the Korean team is resting and analyzing their possible playoff opponents.
