The third day of the CS:GO Paris Major is history, and we already know three more teams that will be present at the next Legends Stage, FaZe Clan, Apeks, and NiP. These three teams beat forZe, paiN, and Grayhound Gaming to seal their qualification to the next tournament stage.

On the other hand, we have Monte, Team GamerLegion, and Team Liquid, who achieved victories to stay alive in the tournament and play for the qualification to the Legends Stage in the next hours. Finally, TheMongolz, OG, and Complexity Gaming are eliminated from the Major.

Now, let’s see what happened on the third day of the BLAST.tv Paris Major.

Monte crush TheMongolz to stay alive in the tournament

Ukrainian team, Monte Esports, got a clean 2-0 win over TheMongolz to secure their stay in the tournament for one more day. They must face the Brazilian team, paiN Gaming, to fight for a place in the Legends Stage.

It all started in Nuke, the map pick of TheMongolz, where Monte gave a great show of power in the first half by the hand of Mohammad “BOROS” Malhas. With a solid defense, the Ukrainians took an 11-4 partial victory, giving them a big advantage in this series. After that, however, TheMongolz started to react little by little on their CT side and even managed to put the score 13-15. Finally, Monte won the remaining round to take the victory on the first map by 16-13.

On the second map, Anubis, we saw a similar story, but with the difference that the score was very close from the beginning. With Monte on the CT side, the guys from TheMongolz managed to take a narrow victory in the first half by 8-7. However, when the sides switched sides, the Ukrainians unleashed a fast-paced offense that was virtually impossible for TheMongolz to stop. As a result, Monte took the 16-12 victory.

Team GamerLegion pull off a surprise and sends OG home

What looked like a comfortable qualification to the Legends Stage turned into a real nightmare for OG. The Danish team could not overcome the German team and lost 1-2 to be eliminated from the Paris Major.

The series started very well for the Team GamerLegion boys in their map pick, Overpass. After an intense first half that ended with a score of 8-7 in favor of OG, GamerLegion deployed a great defensive performance in the second half to take the victory by 16-13. Frederik “acoR” Gyldstrand was responsible for preventing OG’s offenses on this map.

Things would not stay there, as OG, on their map pick, Mirage, reacted immediately to take a 16-8 win to even the series 1-1. However, OG started extremely strong on the T-side, winning nine rounds in the first half. Adam “NEOFRAG” Zouhar was very inspired by this map, and with the help of Abdul “degster” Gasanov and Shahar “flameZ” Shushan, they managed to seal the victory.

Finally, in Ancient, Team GamerLegion surprised more than one with Mihai “iM” Ivan (94.3 ADR and 1.69 Rating) as the protagonist. After winning the first half with a solid 11-4 on the T-side, the Team GamerLegion guys didn’t let up and got a comfortable 16-7 victory that keeps them alive in the Paris Major.

Team Liquid smashed Complexity Gaming 2-0

Team Liquid scored a crushing 2-0 victory over Complexity to play for the Legends Stage qualification against Grahound Gaming in the coming hours.

While the series started with Team Liquid winning their map pick (Anubis) with a somewhat balanced score of 16-11, there is no doubt that they were dominant in this match. The first half ended with a crushing 12-3 in favor of Liquid, something that, without a doubt, is hard to come back from. Complexity did not sit back and won eight rounds in changing sides. However, this was insufficient, and they fell by 16-11.

We observed a disappointing LOC on the second map, as Team Liquid beat their map pick (Overpass) with a crushing score of 16-3. However, the disappointing thing is that the first half of the game ended with an imposing and practically impossible overcome 15-0 in favor of Liquid.

FaZe and Apeks seal their tickets to the Legends Stage

FaZe Clan proved they could still play at the best possible level and took a convincing victory over forZe by 2-0. Overpass and Nuke were the stages selected by these teams to play in this series.

It all started very well in Overpass for FaZe, as they managed a 12-3 win in the first half, giving them peace of mind to face the rest of the rounds. Although forZe tried to react and put the score 12-15, FaZe finally won the remaining round to take the first victory in the series.

Then, in Nuke, the story was very similar, as FaZe started with a 9-6 T-side victory, which they finally finished off with a great performance by Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken. As a result, FaZe took the victory by 16-11 and thus secured their place in the Legends Stage.

Apeks had to suffer a little more to get the qualification because after winning the first map against paiN Gaming by 16-11, the Brazilian team woke up and tied the series 1-1. paiN Gaming deployed a great offensive in Vertigo thanks to Rodrigo “biguzera” Bittencourt.

However, this did not worry Apeks much, who in the third map (Anubis) achieved a comfortable victory with a score of 16-9 to seal their qualification to the next phase. In addition, this also ratifies the great level that Apeks has shown in the last weeks of the season.

NiP comfortably beat GhG

Finally, NiP got a clean 2-0 victory over Grayhound Gaming to take the other place in the Legends Stage of the Paris Major.

Both maps were extremely balanced, as the guys from GhG showed why they are still alive in the Major. However, the experience and talent of a squad like NiP’s came to the fore with Daniil “headtr1ck” Valitov, their youngest player, who was the MVP of the series and finished with 92.6 ADR and 1.44 Rating.

NiP’s victories came at Mirage (16-11) and Inferno (16-12). As a result, the team secures its presence in the Legends Stage starting in the next few days.
