The RDNA 3 graphics card has not had a great start compared to the Radeon RX 7900 XT and RX 7900 XTX. However, the architecture may be rescued thanks to the AMD Radeon 780M. An integrated graphics processor for Ryzen CPUs that aims to significantly boost the performance offered by Steam Deck, Valve’s console/mini-PC.
A Chinese tech discussion forum called Bilibili has reported on AMD Radeon 780M integrated graphics. In this forum, a user claims to have performed some 3DMark Time Spy tests with the aforementioned integrated graphics.
According to the user’s results, it is a 25% improvement over the Radeon 680M, which uses the RDNA 2 architecture and is close to the notebook version of NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 2050.
Announcements at CES 2023

AMD Radeon 780M
As for the AMD Raden 780M performance tests, forum user Bilibili shows a score of 3,000 with LPDDR5X RAM at 7,500 MHz and 2,750 with DDR5 memory at 5,600 MHz.
The Radeon 780M, as an integrated graphics card, has no dedicated memory, so it relies on the computer’s RAM for that function. On the other hand, according to PC Gamer, the graphics card with the Steam Deck built in is based on the RDNA 2 architecture, which in its day achieved a score of 1,700 points, so the next-generation integrated graphics card aims to surpass Valve’s mini-PC far, which is limited by its design and layout.
However, some doubt the validity of the alleged tests for an apparent reason: the results are too rounded. The higher score obtained by the Intel Arc A380 demonstrates that:
Synthetic test results do not necessarily reflect solid performance or a positive user experience in a real-world usage environment.
We’ll have to wait to see what performance the AMD Radeon 780M delivers. Still, if it more or less lives up to expectations, it would essentially confirm the existence of a Steam Deck 2, which is expected to be necessary to bring Valve’s device up to par regarding system requirements.
Another point to note is that the power offered by the AMD Radeon 780M need not carry over to the presumed Steam Deck 2 if, indeed, Valve decides to use said integrated GPU.
