CS:GO – K0nfig leaves Complexity amid Astralis reports

It appears that Kristian “k0nfig” Wienecke could be set to join Astralis next year, with the Dane having been parted company with Complexity this week. The North American organization broke the news on Thursday, with the rifler having been with Complexity since November 2019.

Posting on Twitter, Complexity stated: “Today, we say goodbye to the SP34RM4N as he has chosen a different direction for 2022. We wish you the best of luck moving forward, @k0nfigCS.”

Why a move to Astralis appears likely for k0nfig

The departure of k0nfig comes shortly after it was reported that the veteran was in talks to join Astralis, with it having long been understood that the 24-year-old would not be signing a new deal with Complexity. With Astralis potentially losing Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen, Andreas “Xyp9x” Hojsleth and Emil “Magisk” Reif when their contracts expire at the end of the year, k0nfig would be a welcome addition to their roster.

K0nfig has been one of Complexity’s most consistent players since his arrival, with his fragging output in particular being impressive. With k0nfig on board, Complexity won the BLAST Premier Spring Europe Finals, taking home $500,000 in prize money following their win over Vitality in June 2020. However, while Complexity has remained at the top of the CS:GO scene, the org has not won any notable titles since then.

Why k0nfig has been out of action for Complexity of late

K0nfig is currently recovering from a broken wrist suffered during the summer player break, which led to Complexity having to call upon a number of stand-ins. Niels Christian “NaToSaphiX” Sillassen competed for the org at the ESL Pro League Season 14, with Complexity having also acquired 2x major winner Marcelo “coldzera” David of late. However, Complexity failed to disclose how long the Brazilian had been tied down for, meaning that is could be just a short-term deal.

Unfortunately for Complexity, coldzera has been unable to make any significant impact for the team so far. Complexity were disappointing at the IEM Fall Europe earlier this month, with their showing meaning that they have failed to qualify for the PGL Stockholm Major. They will now turn to the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown, which takes place between October 12-17. A top-two finish is required to qualify for the Fall Finals in November, with Complexity taking on MIBR in their first match.

The current Complexity roster is made up by Benjamin “blameF” Bremer, Valentin “poizon” Vasilev, Justin “jks” Savage, Patrick “es3tag” Hansen and coldzera. Coach Luis “peacemaker” Tadeu remains in charge.
