TSM displayed a significant improvement in performance on day five of the ALGS Pro League, showing that they still have a chance to advance. The team has been the subject of much debate lately in the Apex Legends community over their choice of Horizon.

During today’s online play of ALGS Pro League Split 2, TSM managed to earn some of the much-needed points that they need to make it through to LAN qualifiers. Despite an underwhelming start to their ALGS Pro League run, they have now turned the
tide and jumped up to the 14th position on the leaderboards. However, if they want to finish in the top 10 and advance to the playoffs, they still have some work to do.

The series is now taking a one-week break before the competition resumes on April 9.

TSM can still make it to LAN

Considering their disastrous start to Split 2, the pressure on TSM was understandably immense before the fifth matchday. Trying to crawl back from the 18th position was an unexpected result for the TSM fans, for whom a LAN ALGS tournament without TSM is something unimaginable.

Thankfully, ImperialHal and his squad showed a significant improvement in performance which helped them to get closer to the playoffs, however, they will need to maintain this momentum in the remaining two rounds in order to make it to the top 10.

The use of Horizon

One of the most discussed things among the community was TSM’s use of Horizon. Instead of using the current meta picks such as Catalyst, TSM decided to use Legends that can’t scan the new “Ring Console”. As an alternative, they scout the zone by scanning the survey beacons, which show the positions of all teams on the map.

Because Horizon is considered a “dead legend” by most players, many ask whether she can offer more than Catalyst when it comes to utility. Well, she does offer movement advantage, and combined with ImperialHal’s flawless execution, it seems to be a viable strategy after all.

Can TSM keep the strong performance?

It’s obvious how well TSM handles this legend composition. Game one against SCS was an absolute TSM classic. Positioning themselves heavily outside the dome, using a classic TSM Valk ult, they decided to clear the west side of the dome.

Although they had some trouble fighting their way through, it was a relief for TSM fans to see them clear the edge of the zone, put themselves in a strong position with another Valk Ult, and then clear the final fight. It’s clear they still got it.

That said, TSM failed to keep up this level of performance in game two, failing to capitalize on a “home zone” in Lava Siphon. And so it remains to be seen how the next matches will go for them and whether they manage to qualify for ALGS Pro League Split 2 Playoffs.
