The Playoffs Stage of LEC Summer 2020 only has 5 participants left. In this article, I will take a close look at what has happened so far and what is likely to happen next in the tournament.

LEC Summer 2020 Participants

LEC Summer 2020 had 6 participants in total in the Playoffs. These teams were the following:

  • Rogue
  • MAD Lions
  • G2 Esports
  • Fnatic
  • SK Gaming
  • FC Schalke 04 Esports

This order reflects the Group Stage results. However, when it comes to big matches, the legendary teams tend to do a lot better than the ones that are just starting to taste success. So when the Playoffs began, everyone knew a little secret: Fnatic and G2 Esports were much more likely to triumph than Rogue and MAD Lions.

Semifinals Results

Indeed, Rogue finished the Group Stage with 13 wins and 5 losses. MAD Lions with 12 wins and 6 losses. By contrast, G2 Esports had 11 wins and 7 losses while Fnatic had 9 wins and 9 losses. Surely, under these circumstances, you would have thought that Rogue was going to smash Fnatic in the Semifinals. But instead, Fnatic easily won the match in just 3 games.

In the other Semifinals match, G2 Esports had a slight disadvantage against MAD Esports, based on their Group Stage results. But again, experienced proved to be worth a lot more than other factors and G2 won with a score of 3 – 1. Now we’re about to see one of the most iconic matchups in League of Legends: Fnatic vs. G2 Esports. This derby is going to be so amazing that you really don’t want to miss it. The date it has been scheduled for is August 29th, 17:00 CET.

Lower Bracket Results

In the Lower Bracket of LEC Summer 2020 Playoffs, FC Schalke 04 Esports defeated SK Gaming (3 – 0). Schalke was very consistent in its picks and basically did the same thing over and over again, leaving SK completely surprised. This was an obviously highly rehearsed match and Odoamne’s team had the exact antidote to SK’s preferred playstyle.

Next, we will have MAD Lions vs FC Schalke. In the Group Stage, both of these teams won once against the other. So I do believe that the match could easily go in any direction. Based on the statistics though and the fact that MAD won a game against G2 Esports, I believe that they’re the ones to be regarded as favorites.
