8-Year-Old Signs for Esports Organization Team 33

New Esports organization Team 33 has taken the unpresidented step of signing an eight-year-old Fortnite player. Joseph Deen has been added to the organization’s Fortnite division, earning a $33,000 signing on bonus and gaming setup worth $5,000 in the process. It has been reported that Team 33 has been associated with Deen since he was just six, raising questions surrounding whether this is too young.

Why Team 33 Signed Deen

Speaking on the youngster’s arrival, Team 33 co-founder Tyler Gallagher said that: “We are beyond excited to have Joseph on our exclusive Team 33 roster. We have secretly been scouting talent for our roster and games over the last few years and are proud to officially sign Joseph. We made it a point to train him over the past few years because young gamers are the future, and we want to start training them early.”

Deen will practice at the orgnanization’s new training facility, which has been described as “an award winning property designed for gamers, entrepreneurs and music artists”, with the likes of Drake, Post Malone and Travis Scott having already visited. Team 33 is working hard on building up its existing rosters, before branching out into new games, including VALORANT, World of Warcraft, CS:G and Call of Duty.

Why More and More Esports Organizations are Signing Youngsters

Some have questioned Team 33’s decision to sign Deen, given his age, with Esports attorney Ryan Fairchild having stated that the organization may well have had to use loopholes to get the deal done. The signing of Deen follows the arrival of 12-year-old Fortnite player “H1ghsky1” at FaZe Clan. FaZe initially stated that he was 13, the age in which players must be in order to compete in Fortnite events and stream on Twitch. As a result, H1ghsky1 saw his Twitch account suspended, while his Twitter account was deleted shortly after. Howeve, the teenager remains part of the FaZe Clan team, regularly creating content on YouTube. It remains to be seen as to how Team 33 and Deen’s association will work.
