XTQZZZ asks to be removed from The Game Awards 2023

While it is true that The Game Awards 2023 is a very popular event in video games in general, there is no doubt that, on many occasions, it has been struggling to gain the respect of the always complicated and demanding esports fans.

However, blunders are common, especially in the nominations, and this makes many fans pass from watching them and even from voting for their favorites. Several days ago, the event organizers shared the nominees in the different esports categories, and one of these nominations is making people talk, even because of the nominated character himself.

It is Rémy “XTQZZZ” Quoniam, current Head Coach of Fnatic, who has been nominated as “Best Esports Coach in 2023,” something that, without a doubt, is not understood at all since the Frenchman did not coach any team throughout 2023.

The Game Awards nominate XTQZZZ for the Best Coach of 2023 Award

Through its official Twitter/X account, The Game Awards shared the nominees for the Best Coach of the Year award, and one of these nominees was Frenchman XTQZZZ.

However, as expected, this announcement did not go down well in the esports community, especially Counter-Strike esports. As we mentioned, XTQZZZ did not coach any team throughout 2023 (except TSM for 1 month and now Team Vitality), so his nomination is absurd.

This undoubtedly generated fans and the French coach to speak out on his social networks. XTQZZZ used his Twitter account to ask the organizers of The Game Awards 2023 to remove him from that list, as he did not coach anyone in 2023.

About The Game Awards

As we approach the end of the 2023 video game and esports season, it is time to get to know the best and the worst.

It is clear that The Game Awards tries to nominate and, above all, give the award to the best of the best in the season. However, it isn’t straightforward to take this event seriously if they nominate anyone without considering obvious factors.

In the case of XTQZZZ, we can be sure that he was a CS2 coach for two months in 2023, so it is completely illogical that he was nominated for the award. Moreover, in these two months, he won nothing, making the nomination much more absurd.

On the other hand, after this nomination, there is no doubt that those in charge of nominating esports coaches for this category looked for the team that won the Paris Major. As we know, Danny “zonic” Sørensen (currently the head coach of Falcons) was the coach of Vitality in this feat, so, in any case, he would be the only nominee in this category from Counter-Strike.

This is not the worst thing about XTQZZZ’s nomination; zonic himself is also nominated for this category, which suggests that the jurors are unaware of what happened in the Counter-Strike scene in 2023.
