Paper Rex and DRX have been qualified for the Masters Tokyo event after defeating T1 and Team Secret respectively. Throughout the league stage, both Paper Rex and DRX showcased their dominance, consistently outperforming their opponents and earning them well-deserved recognition.

With only one slot remaining from VCT Pacific for Masters, the tournament is still alive as Paper Rex and DRX are set to face each other in the upper bracket final for a chance to secure the first finalist spot. Here is today’s recap of the VCT Pacific League playoffs stage.

DRX vs Team Secret

The best-of-three series commenced on Haven, with Team Secret assuming the attacker’s role. Despite DRX winning the pistol round, they struggled to maintain momentum, resulting in a lackluster performance throughout the first half. With only four rounds scored, the halftime score stood at 8-4 in favor of Team Secret. Bolstered by their first-half success, Team Secret began the second half by winning the pistol round and extending their lead. However, DRX refused to yield and launched a determined counterattack. Ultimately, Team Secret secured victory on the first map with a score of 13-9.

Following Team Secret’s one-map lead, the action shifted to Split for the second map. DRX showcased their determination for vengeance, dominating Team Secret. In the first half, Team Secret struggled to secure only one round, resulting in an 11-1 score. DRX continued their momentum in the second half, swiftly claiming victory on the map.

We moved to a decider which was Bind. Although fans were expecting to get an intense thrilling battle but it turns out to be completely one-sided. Once again, Team Secret shattered in the first half trailing by a 10-2 score. Nothing extraordinary comeback from TS in the second half as well. DRX secured the Bind with a 13-4 score. Overall, it was a valiant comeback by DRX despite getting defeated on the first map.

Paper Rex vs T1

The second match of the day showcased a thrilling battle between Paper Rex and their Korean counterparts, T1. The clash unfolded on Lotus, T1’s selected map. Paper Rex kicked off the proceedings by claiming the pistol round, but T1 swiftly fought back, leveling the score. The first half remained tightly contested, with both teams showcasing their skills. The intensity continued in the second half, as both sides engaged in a fierce battle, trading rounds turn by turn. Ultimately, Paper Rex emerged triumphant with a hard-fought 13-10 victory on the first map.

As the teams transitioned to the second map, Fracture, Paper Rex surprised with a return to their old compositions. Ilya “something” Petrov took up the Initiator role, while Jason “f0rsaken” Susanto and Jingg embraced the duelist roles they were once known for. The gamble proved successful as Paper Rex closed the first half with an 8-4 lead. In the second half, T1 fought valiantly, nearly closing the gap, but Paper Rex prevailed with a 13-10 score, securing another hard-fought victory.

Paper Rex and DRX qualified for Masters and Champions

With the respective wins, both Paper Rex and DRX have become the first Asian teams to secure qualification for Masters Tokyo, scheduled to take place next month. Additionally, their impressive performance has earned them a spot in the highly anticipated Valorant Champions event, set to be held in Los Angeles. This remarkable feat showcases their skill and positions them as formidable contenders on the global Valorant stage.
