In this offseason for some of the LCS organizations, some teams are looking for players who can give their lineups a new face for the rest of the 2023 season. One such organization is Immortals, which has announced the signing of veteran Erik “Treatz” Wessén for the Summer Split.

These types of moves are common at this stage of the season and even more so after teams fail to meet the expectations set before the start of the season. But on the other hand, bringing a veteran back into action can greatly help the team in its quest to perform well in the upcoming Split.

Immortals announces the signing of Treatz

A few hours ago, the North American organization, Immortals, announced the signing of Erik “Treatz” Wessén, a 26-year-old veteran heading into the Summer Split. In addition, Treatz’s arrival to the team will replace Kadir “Fleshy” Kemiksiz.

Fleshy will now support Immortals’ Challengers team and fill the spot vacated by Joseph “Joey” Haslemann.

Treatz returns to NA

As mentioned in the announcement, this move marks Treatz’s return to the North American League of Legends competitive scene. The veteran last played in the LCS at the 2020 Summer Split as the sixth player for TSM, the team crowned in that Split then.

During that Split, Treatz “took turns” as the team’s backup with Vincent “Biofrost” Wang and managed to help his team in six of the eight games they played back then.

However, the player got a call from one of the most popular esports organizations in the world, SK Gaming. Treatz was part of SK’s roster for the 2021 and 2022 seasons, but while the 26-year-old performed great in every match, the reality is that the team’s overall results were not good. So finally, SK Gaming decided to release him last December, and since then, he has not played any official games in any region of the world.

Treatz has a complicated mission with Immortals

Treatz is extremely difficult for Immortals, as the team needs a 180° turnaround heading into the Summer Split.

The team finished ninth on the overall LCS Spring Split leaderboard with a poor 4-14 record. Neither half of the tournament was good for the team, which finished with a 2-12 record each.

However, not everything will be unfamiliar to Treatz in this foray into the LCS, as he plays with his former teammate at TSM Academy, Edward “Tactical” Ra. This pair of players had an excellent performance and level of play in the LCS Academy 2019, to such an extent that they won the championship title for their team.
