Riot Games’ tactical shooter, VALORANT, hasn’t stopped growing since its launch in 2020.

In the season that has just ended, this esports has reached new heights, with many spectators watching live tournaments held during the year.

VCT Season 2022 – Region: NA

The North American teams did very well for their region during the 2022 VCT season. The four teams that represented this region in the different international events were:

  • OpTic Gaming
  • XSET
  • 100 Thieves
  • The Guard

We can even highlight that OpTic Gaming took the champions trophy of VCT Stage 1: Masters Reykjavik.

However, we must remember that OpTic Gaming is not part of Riot’s partner teams for VCT 2023, which caused many organizational changes.

Here are the top five VALORANT players for the 2022 VCT season.

The list shown below is at the discretion of the writer of this article.

Trent

Trent “trent” Cairns belongs to The Guard team. His role in the team is as a starter, but he has shown excellent capabilities as a Controller using Viper. Similarly, the agent trent has played with the most in 2022 has been Sova.

At the beginning of 2022, Trent and his team were dominant in the NA region. There is no doubt that this player was the cornerstone of this success. His movement skills and great shooting have impressed all the fans.

Thanks to his performances, Trent quickly became one of the most popular players on the Valorant scene.

Derreck

Derrek “Derrek” Ha plays for one of the most popular teams in North America, 100 Thieves. His roles on the team vary between Initiator and Sentinel (Sage), but his most used agent this 2022 has been Sova.

100 Thieves quickly formed an excellent team for 2022 that dominated the NA scene. However, the team’s most significant achievement was the Champion Tour NA: Last Chance Qualifiers (LCQ) victory, which gave them a direct ticket to VALORANT Champions 2022.

There is no doubt that Derreck is a Clutch Master. Moreover, he uses his utilities to perfection as well as his aim.

Marved

Jimmy “Marved” Nguyen was OpTic Gaming’s best player in the 2022 season. His main role on the team was Controller, but he also played as a Starter (with KAY/O). The agent that Marved used the most in 2022 was Brimstone.

Marved was the mainstay of OpTic Gaming in 2022. He was the player who always stepped up when his team needed him. Even though his primary role is Controller, Marved was able to win different rounds for the team.

Cryocells

Matthew “Cryocells” Panganiban is currently part of 100 Thieves, but he has played much of his career with XSET, another of VALORANT’s great organizations in NA.

In 2022 he was characterized by having two roles on the team, Duelist with Jett and Sentinel with Chamber, with Jett being the most used agent by Cryocells in 2022.

Together with OpTic, XSET was among the best teams in the NA region. In this season that just ended, XSET finally proved their worth and qualified for the VALORANT Champions 2022 in Istanbul, where they categorically beat Fnatic.

Cryocells is an incredibly skilled player. He is considered one of the best players in the world.

yay

Finally, we have Jaccob “yay” White, a player who belongs to Cloud9 but was part of the OpTic Gaming squad that dominated the NA region in 2022. Yay played the vast majority of his games with Chamber.

As we mentioned, OpTic was at the top of the VALORANT Champions Tour in 2022; they were a very experienced and talented team. However, there is no doubt that yay was one of those players that made a difference in the squad.

Yay is undoubtedly one of the best players in Valorant right now. It will be exciting to see if he can stay at the top in VCT 2023.
