The competitive season in most of the different esports disciplines is over. Hence, we bring you the list of the ten most-watched events this year.

Free Fire World Series 2022 Sentosa

The first of two Free Fire World Series events this 2022, FFWS Sentosa, reached a peak of 1.47 million viewers. They were making it the fifth most-watched Free Fire tournament in history. This event had a cumulative prize pool of $2 million.

VALORANT Champions 2022

VALORANT Champions 2022 is part of the fastest-growing e-sports circuit today. The VALORANT Champions final event was held in Turkey last September.

With just over 1.5 million spectators, it was a record for Riot Games’ FPS. The year 2021 alone attracted around 400,000 spectators, indicating its rapid growth and a positive trend for the 2023 event, where it could potentially exceed 2 million viewers.

The International 2022

The International, one of the most famous tournaments in eSports, surprised everyone with a drop in viewership in 2022. Nevertheless, the tournament reached a maximum of 1.7 million viewers, which makes the game the third most popular edition of T1.

If we compare it with 2021, this year it got 1 million fewer audiences; this could be attributed to the sanctions imposed on Russia.

PGL Major Antwerp

PGL Major Antwerp, the most-watched CS:GO event in 2022, reached 2.1 million viewers. However, this year’s Major got around 600,000 fewer viewers than the Stockholm Major in 2021.

This drop could be attributed to the fact that the 2021 Major was the first event after the pandemic. This year’s result is successful relative to the years before the pandemic.

Mid-Season Invitational

MSI is a peculiar tournament in the League of Legends calendar, created at a midpoint of the LoL competitive season.

Thanks to its unique format, it is a fan favorite in which all Spring Split champions face each other. This year’s MSI attracted 2.2 million viewers, making it the most-watched MSI in history.

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Southeast Asian Games

The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang tournament was the most successful event, attracting 2.2 million viewers. This tournament achieved something impressive for being an independent e-sports event.

MLBB is part of the Southeast Asian Games. This year’s games were held in Vietnam and included Tekken 7, League of Legends, Starcraft, PUBG Mobile, and other games.

MPL Indonesia Season 10

The finals of MPL Indonesia, the country’s top-tier Mobile Legends: Bang Bang league, garnered 2.21 million viewers. As a result, it ranks among the top e-sports events in Mobile Legends and general.

The finals took place at the MPL Arena in Indonesia, where teams battled for $300,000 in prize money.

MLBB Southeast Asia Cup 2022

The MLBB SEA Cup 2022, a tournament where teams from all over Southeast Asia compete against each other, took place in Malaysia.

The event had a prize pool of $300,000. In addition, it managed to capture the attention of 2.8 million viewers, surpassing The International 10, which was held in 2021.

MPL Indonesia Season 9

MPL Indonesia has made the list of the top 10 most-watched events of the year for two consecutive seasons. With 2.84 million viewers, it became the most-watched MLBB event in history. Behind the champions M3 and M2, the biggest event of the MLBB competitive season.

League of Legends World Championship

With 5.1 million viewers, the League of Legends World Championship became the most-watched event in LoL history. League of Legends has proven to be the most popular PC title and the second most watched in esports history. It is the second most-watched event of all time, behind Free Fire World Series 2021.
