The best CS:GO players of 2022 – stavn

The year 2022 was truly spectacular for Heroic. The Danish team reached its peak right when it mattered most. And thanks to the addition of Jakob “Jabbi” Nygaard, they surpassed everything they had done before.

As part of this great CS:GO success story, Martin “stavn” Lund played his part to perfection and was always there when his team needed him to perform well. Because of this, he was ranked 10^th by hltv in the top 20 CS:GO players of 2022.

Stavn’s 2022 season with Heroic

In 2022, Heroic won two important trophies and placed in the top four at some of the most prestigious tournaments of the year: IEM Katowice (third-fourth) and IEM Rio Major (second). In particular, this second event showed us that Heroic’s current lineup could easily win some S-tier trophies in 2023.

At the Major, Heroic ended Team Spirit’s run with a dominant performance. Stavn was the second-best player on his team with 38 kills and an ADR of 92.1, the highest on the server.

Then, in the semifinal against FURIA Esports, stavn was the best member of his team and ended the match with 66 kills. Unfortunately, he couldn’t repeat the same performance in the Grand Final against Outsiders, but at least his efforts carried his team to this match and gave Heroic a rare opportunity to play in a Major Grand Final.

The most important tournament for stavn in 2022 was probably BLAST Premier Fall Final. At this event, the 20-year-old displayed exceptional abilities and showed that you don’t need to be a veteran to understand every aspect of the game.

In the playoffs of the competition, stavn was always one of the best members of his team and in some cases was the MVP of the match. His best performance came in the semifinal against Team Liquid. In that battle, stavn was the strongest player on the server and had the same number of frags as Mareks “YEKINDAR” Galinskis.

The Grand Final of the tournament was played against FaZe Clan. And, despite Robin “ropz” Kool’s superb performance (81 – 65), Heroic were the winners but only by a very narrow margin. The third map required overtime rounds to conclude and the final score was 19-16.

No doubt, stavn deserved to be named one of the best CS:GO players of 2022 and he has a good chance of improving his rank in 2023.
