While it’s true that the RLCS Winter Major is still in full swing, Psyonix, the developers of Rocket League, have announced the location of the upcoming RLCS Spring Major 2023.

We have six teams fighting for the $100,000 and 40 RLCS Points the tournament winner will walk away with. These teams are FaZe Clan, Gen.G Mobil1 Racing, Complexity Gaming, KRÜ Esports, Karmine Corp, and Team Liquid. Everything will be defined at the San Diego Convention Center in the coming hours.

However, the RLCS did not want to wait much longer, or for the tournament to end, to announce the location of the next Major.

RLCS announces the location of the Spring Major: Boston

With the end of the Winter Split today, Sunday, April 9, the RLCS has announced that the next Spring Major will be played in Boston, Massachusetts. In addition, the official dates for the tournament were revealed, which will be played July 6-9, 2023.

Like the Major currently being played, the prize pool will be $310,000 and is also part of the official RLCS circuit, which awards major points towards the RLCS World Championship 2023, to be played in August.

RLCS Spring Major – Details

As usual in the RLCS Spring Major, the top 16 teams from all regions will be invited to this event. However, the invitations have to do exclusively with the teams’ ranking in the different spring tournaments that will be played. In total, there will be three tournaments or qualifying events that the teams will have to play in each region:

  • Spring Open
  • Spring Cup
  • Spring Invitational

The teams qualifying for this Major will be five from Europe and North America, two from Oceania and South America, and one from MENA and APAC.

Start of the RLCS Spring Split

Each RLCS Spring Split regional event will begin in early May 2023 with the Spring Open. Then, one week after the end of this tournament, the teams are set to play the Spring Cup, and finally, the Spring Invitational will be played in mid-June.

RLCS Spring Split – Format

The format used will be the same as the one implemented so far in the Split; that is to say, we will have a Double-Elimination Bracket format. On the other hand, the grand final of each tournament will be played in a best-of-seven (BO7) Bracket Reset format. The teams that win the Lower Bracket will have to win two BO7s in the final to take the victory.

Psyonix has not given many more details about this Major since it is still several months away. However, we invite you to tune in to the actions of the final stage of the RLCS Winter Split, which will be played from 20:00 CEST with the match between Complexity and KRÜ Esports.
