Riyadh Masters group stage day 2 results

Day 2 of Riyadh Masters’ group stage is over and the results are very surprising.

Some of the teams that got crushed on day 1 made a spectacular comeback. Others, which seemed unbeatable, finally lost their first match.

Group A results

In group A of Riyadh Masters 2023, day 2 of the group stage brought a lot of draws. OG drew twice. So did Gaimin Gladiators, reaching a total of 4 draws, which isn’t terrible but puts them in a perilous position. They have essentially lost two of their four matches and won the other two.

Without some clean victories in the last three matches, Gladiators risk failing to secure a spot in the upper bracket.

For PSG.LGD, day 2 was a complete disaster. After their 3-1 performance on day 1, they finished the second day with a 0-4 score. The teams that defeated them were Xtreme Gaming and Team Spirit. In both matches, PSG.LGD tried and failed to make Timbersaw work. They also tried winning with an IO plus Storm Spirit combo but were crushed.

The team that got the best results in group A on day 2 was Quest Esports. Their record for the day was 3-1, which isn’t bad at all. They drew against Gaimin Gladiators and won against Team Spirit. Quest actually came close to winning the match against Gladiators, but ended up losing game 1 after having an 11.6K networth lead.

The competitors in this group are very close to each other. The difference between Evil Geniuses (5-3), who are currently ranked 1^st, and PSG.LGD (3-5), who are currently ranked last, is quite small.

Group B results

In group B, there were only 3 draws on day 2. The other five matches ended with a clean victory for one of the teams. Team Secret were victorious against TSM and then against BetBoom. The second win was absolutely impressive and proved that Clement “Puppey” Ivanov is still a brilliant strategist.

The other victories in this group were obtained by BetBoom (against Liquid), Talon (against TSM), and Aster (against Tundra).

Shopify Rebellion drew twice and are currently ranked 5^th with 3 points. The leaders in this group are BetBoom, Talon, and Aster. All of them have 6 points. Team Secret went from 0-4 to 4-4 and occupies the 4^th position. For Tundra and Liquid, who are among the best in Western Europe, the situation looks dire.
