PUBG Mobile is all set to hold its first global esports event of the year in the Middle East. The PUBG Mobile World Invitational will take place at Riyadh Boulevard, KSA, from August 11-20, featuring a showdown of 18 international PUBG Mobile teams and a whopping $3 million prize pool.

Yesterday, PUBG Mobile has released a video on its official social channels, announcing the details of the upcoming global events. Based on the announcement, PUBG will put an end to the long drought of global PUBG esports action with the PUBG Mobile Global Championship and PUBG Mobile World Invitation, which will feature a combined prize pool of $7 million. Additional details regarding the Global Championship have not yet been released, but it will offer a $4 million prize pool.

PUBG Mobile World Invitational

The PMWI 2022 will take place in Saudi Arabia starting on August 11. In the video, Director of PUBG Mobile Global Esports James Yang has revealed that the format of PMWI, which was earlier known as Mid-Season Invitational, has been changed. The event will now have two phases — the Main Event and the After Party Showdown. Furthermore, the gaming and esports festival Gamers8 held by the Saudi Esports Federation will serve as the event partner, while ESL will serve as the production partner of PUBG Mobile World Invitational 2022. 

Week 1 – Main Event

The main event, which will take place from August 11-13 and offers a $2 million prize pool, will feature 18 teams. While the Saudi Arabian squad Team Falcons received a host country invitation, the remaining 17 teams had to win their respective regional leagues to earn their seats in PMWI. The top 5 teams from this stage will advance to week two — the After Party.

Week 2 – The After Party Showdown

The After Party Showdown will take place between August 18 and 20. The event will feature 12 teams competing for a $1 million prize pool under the new format.

  • The top five teams from Main events
  • Six teams from the chosen region (specific slots will be announced later)
  • One team will receive a special invite
