China Dota2 Pro Cup Season 1 is over and PSG.LGD is its winner. The team proved beyond any doubt that even with a completely new roster, it is still the strongest competitor in China. Their run was so dominant that during the Playoffs Stage, they didn’t lose a single game. And they had to play 4 matches against 3 formidable opponents: EHOME, RNG, Vici Gaming, and again EHOME in the Grand Final. The first 3 matches were Bo3. The last one was Bo5. And in spite of the highly skilled opposition, PSG.LGD remained undefeated.

Group Stage Results

PSG.LGD started its run in China Dota2 Pro Cup Season 1 with 3 consecutive wins followed by an unexpected loss against LBZS, a relatively new and completely unknown team from the region. This happened in Group A, which ended with them in 2nd place. The other important teams in this group were Aster, Invictus Gaming, and LBZS. This last competitor needs to be included on the list because they finished with 4 wins out of 4 matches. That’s absolutely remarkable for an up and coming team that had to survive the open qualifiers to be here.

Playoffs Results

In the Playoffs of China Dota2 Pro Cup Season 1, PSG.LGD encountered the strongest teams in the region. But none of them looked capable of winning a single game. EHOME lost in two games that finished in under 30 minutes. RNG had a similar fate, except their losses were not identical. Game 1 ended in 23 minutes while game 2 needed 35. In Dota 2, this indicates a dominant victory for one of the sides. Even in other MOBAs such as LoL, when a match ends in 30 minutes, that pretty much says that the dispute was a stomp.

The third match was played against Vici Gaming. This was PSG.LGD’s most serious opponent. And you can see it in how the games were played and in how long they needed to conclude: 41 and 35 minutes respectively.

Grand Final

All of the Grand Final games took between 32 and 35 minutes. That’s a display of dominance and consistency on PSG.LGD’s part. The score was 3 – 0 and EHOME showed that it lacks the level of insight that their opponent seems to have into the current meta.

With this victory, PSG.LGD established itself as the team to beat in China and Team Secret’s only serious rival in an eventual international tournament.
