Picking Zeus in Dota 2 patch 7.34

Zeus became very popular after the release of Dota 2 patch 7.33. But in Dota 2 patch 7.34, the buffs to his ultimate have made him a formidable mid that can also be played offlane or even as position 4.

Zeus excels at dealing magical damage and he’s one of the best counters in the game for illusion-based heroes. When someone picks Phantom Lancer, Naga Siren, or Terrorblade, Zeus and Earth Shaker are among the strongest counters. These days, Beastmaster and Bristleback are also widely used. But Zeus remains a good solution.

What makes Zeus strong in Dota 2 patch 7.34

Zeus can easily farm in the laning phase thanks to his Arc Lightning. Even if don’t do anything but zip creeps from afar, you’ll still have a good lane against most heroes. At level 1, this ability deals 85 magical damage, which is more than enough to surpass the right click damage of your opponent.

The heroes that cause problems are Templar Assassin and Shadow Fiend. But apart from them, there’s not much else to fear.

Another great feature of Arc Lightning is that you can cast it from a range of 850 and severely damage your opponent with it because it bounces 5-15 times. In addition to its basic damage, it also deals percentage-based damage relative to the target’s current HP: 3% – 6%.

After the laning phase, Zeus can farm with this ability and get kills with Lightning Bolt, which deals 125 – 350 damage. You can also detect wards with it because it gives you true sight for 5 seconds in a 750 radius.

Zeus has a powerful ultimate called Thundergod’s Wrath, which deals 300 – 550 damage plus 5% – 10% of Max HP as damage. In most cases, this will amount to 350 – 400 damage at level 1, which is a lot.

When you need to escape, you can use Heavenly Jump to leap 500 units, damaging enemies and slowing their movement speed in the process. Thanks to this ability, which is roughly the equivalent of a Blink Dagger that you can use every 10 seconds (with the level 10 talent), Zeus is much more survivable than he was a few years ago.

Another thing that makes Zeus great is the items that you can purchase in Dota 2 patch 7.34. With tools like Aether Lens and Phylactery, you will get plenty of kills.
