PGL Major Copenhagen is several months away. The tournament is scheduled to take place between March 17 – 31. But before it starts, regional qualifiers will be played. These qualifiers determine all of its participants.

In the American RMR, 16 teams will compete for five Major spots. These teams have either been invited or have qualified by playing well in the North American Qualifier or the South American Qualifier.

This pretty much guarantees that the best teams in the region will compete in the RMR, and that the best teams in the RMR will go to the Copenhagen Major.

American RMR details

The American RMR for PGL Major Copenhagen will be played between March 1 – 4 in Monterrey, Mexico. Some of the participants are relatively unknown, but others are legendary. Here are the 16 teams:

  • Team Liquid
  • FURIA Esports
  • Complexity Gaming
  • MIBR
  • Imperial Esports
  • M80
  • RED Canids
  • BESTIA
  • paiN Gaming
  • Nouns Esports
  • Badass Gaming
  • BOSS
  • ODDIK
  • Legacy
  • Wildcard Gaming
  • Rocket

The first three teams on this list are pretty much guaranteed a spot at the Copenhagen Major. The remaining two tickets can be won by many different teams.

The reason why Liquid, FURIA, and Complexity cannot, at least in theory, miss the qualification, is that they’re one skill bracket above almost everyone else. Sure, the Brazilians from MIBR, paiN, and Imperial are not exactly novices, but they cannot be compared with these other three teams.

The most exciting competitor in the tournament is Liquid. The new roster has already demonstrated its potential at BLAST Premier Spring Groups, where Liquid defeated Team Spirit and then GamerLegion. Thanks to the individual qualities of the players and the vast knowledge of the IGL, this team could easily become one of the best in the world this season.

FURIA Esports is by far the best Brazilian team in CS2, so I don’t expect them to fail in this tournament. KSCERATO and FalleN are probably eager to compete in front of a huge crowd again. In FalleN’s case, this could be the last season of his career. So it would be great if he could at least play at the Majors.

Complexity are the second-best team in the region and might even surpass Liquid on a good day. With EliGE guiding the rest of his teammates, it is not hard to imagine Complexity finishing the qualifier with a perfect record: 3 W – 0 L. The format will be the famous Swiss System, so each team will have plenty of opportunities to prove itself.
