Jeong “NoFe” No-chul has joined Invictus Gaming, with the South Korean veteran having arrived as Head Coach ahead of the 2021 LPL Summer Split. NoFe was most recently an analyst for the LCK Korean broadcast, having previously worked for the HUYA Tigers and Afreeca.

Invictus Gaming broke the news of NoFe’s return to coaching via Weibo, while they posted the following message on Twitter: “We would like to give a warm welcome to our new head coach Jeong “NoFe” No-chul! NoFe has great experience and performance in leading ROX Tiger, EDG and AFS over the years and the journey with us start in this summer! Welcome to the iG family! Fighting!”

How NoFe Made His Name in League of Legends

NoFe is a former jungler, having started his professional career in 2012 with MVP Blue. However, he moved into a coaching role just two years later. Since then, he has qualified for four World Championships. NoFe reached the Worlds Final in 2015 with KOO Tigers, as well as the semi final with ROX Tigers just a year later.

The Korean has five regional titles in both the LPS and LCK to his name, with perhaps his standout achievement coming in winning the KeSPA Cup with the ROX Tigers in 2016. He also recently coached LCK team Hanhwa Life Esports. With Invictus Gaming having struggled in the LPL Spring, could NoFe help spearhead a revival?

Can NoFe Make An Impact On the Talented IG Roster?

The Invictus Gaming roster comprises of four World Champions, “TheShy”, “Ning”, “Rookie” and “Baolan”. They have won a host of LPS titles, however the lineup has been unable to deliver at the highest level. Their best effort came in 2019, where they were eliminated at the semi final stage by eventual winners FunPlus Phoenix.

NoFe’s experience could well beneficial to such payers, with the 32-year-old likely to be itching to return to coaching, following his brief stint as an analyst. At the minimum Invictus Gaming will be looking to qualify for the 2021 World Championships. We will see if NoFe has been able to make an instant impact when the team returns to action at the LPL Summer Split. The event gets underway on June 9.
