Dota 2 is full of popular heroes but some of them are a lot more popular than others. As new patches are released and the meta evolves, the top 5 most picked heroes in the game change.

Some tend to remain the same no matter what happens simply because they’re satisfying to play regardless of the outcome. But others get replaced by new overpowered monsters.

Pudge

Pudge has a pick rate of 28% at the moment and his win rate is 48.8%. With this win rate, it’s quite surprising that he continues to be used in so many matches. But, since the days when Daniil “Dendi” Ishutin was winning The International 1 using this hero, the entire Dota 2 community has fallen in love with him.

Pudge is a great pick if you get a good early start because you only need a Blink Dagger, a Vanguard, and a few more basic items to be extremely difficult to kill. On top of that, your abilities make it easy for you to trap enemy heroes and compromise their position in fights. In the laning phase, one successful Pudge Hook usually leads to a kill.

Phantom Assassin

This hero is scary right now. Her win rate is 52.5% and her pick rate is 26%. If you don’t stop her in the first 15 minutes, the game is usually lost. You simply cannot hope to win against this killing machine if she’s well-farmed. In just several seconds, she usually kills whatever you put in front of her, including tanks!

Witch Doctor

WD continues to be strong despite the many nerfs. His win rate is 54.3% and his pick rate is 24%. He is easily one of the most useful support heroes in Dota 2 and what’s great about him is that he’s both easy to play and strong at every phase of the game.

Nature’s Prophet

NP’s win rate has decreased after the latest nerfs but it’s still above 51%. His pick rate is 21%. This hero is one of the most mobile in the game and his abilities allow him to be everyone’s saviour or assistant.

Legion Commander

LC will destroy a game if her first several duels are successful. That’s why people pick her in more than 20% of games. Her success rate is 51%.
