Less than a week before their ESL Challenger League debut, the Ukrainian CS:GO team Monte has now decided to bench their player Frederik “Fessor” Sørensen. The 21-year-old Dane was on the team for four months and is now looking for a new team.

The reason for the two parties now going their separate ways could allegedly be the player’s health. As he says himself, he regularly suffers from severe pain and his doctors haven’t been able to establish the correct diagnosis until recently. What’s next for Monte and Fessor?

The Dane is looking for a new team

The suspension follows some good news for Fessor. The rifler explained in his Twitter post that he’s finally received the correct diagnosis and medication from his doctors, which should allow him to treat and ease the immense pain he’s been in for the past few weeks.

He hopes to return to the server in the next two weeks. Perhaps his health issues were also the reason behind his performance, which has slipped lately. Hopefully, he can recover now and then start again with renewed vigor.

Fessors short time with Monte

The 21-year-old Dane joined Monte less than a month after his departure from Astralis Talent. Since joining the lineup in September 2022, Monte saw some successes, including a promotion to the ESL Challenger League, a second-place finish at CCT South Europe Series #1, and a victory at FRAG Season 10.

Fessor performed well under the Monte banner, averaging a 1.14 rating across 72 maps. He ended up in the red in just one of the seven events he competed in, finishing the IEM Road to Rio Europe RMR with a rating of 0.79.

In a Twitter post, Fessor commented on being benched:

“Sad news is that I got benched from Monte yesterday aswell, really disappointed because I felt we had an amazing year, and achieved the goals we expected. We just qualified for ESL Challenger and I really wanted to play it this season.”

“I am thankful for the months we had together, and the memories we made.
I wish them nothing but the best and gl in the next season.”

Monte has yet to announce who will take Fessor’s place, but the team fields former Natus Vincere player Viktor “sdy” Orudzhev as a substitute in European Pro League Season 5.

Here’s the current Monte CS:GO line-up:

  • Volodymyr “Woro2k” Veletniuk
  • Sergiy “DemQQ” Demchenko
  • Mohammad “BOROS” Knitwear
  • Szymon “KRaSnaL” Mrozek
  • Aidyn “KrizzeN” Turlybekov (Coach)
