Karmine Corp are the winners of RLCS San Diego Major

After an intense weekend at the San Diego Convention Center, Karmine Corp crowned champion of the RLCS San Diego Major 2023 after defeating FaZe Clan 4-2 in the Grand Final. With this victory, KCorp earned $100,000 in prize money and sealed their ticket to the RLCS World Championship 2023.

KCorp puts the icing on the cake of a spectacular winter season where he managed to win it all in the European region. In addition, they defeated one of the strongest teams in the world, FaZe Clan, in the grand final.

KCorp become the champion of the RLCS San Diego Major

In an excellent performance throughout the Major, where the team did not lose a single game, KCorp managed to beat FaZe Clan 4-2 and thus lift the trophy of champions of the RLCS San Diego Major.

The French team came to this Major as one of the favorites to lift the trophy, as they were completely dominant throughout the winter season. In addition, they qualified for this Major after winning two of the three regional events on the European continent. Thanks to this, KCorp was seeded in the San Diego Major.

KCorp’s road to the Winter Major Finals

From the start of the tournament, KCorp looked imposing with each of the teams they faced. First, they defeated Dignitas (3-0), Team Falcons (3-0), and Team Vitality (3-1). As a result, KCorp finished in first place in Group B and qualified directly for the quarterfinals.

After a short wait for their opponent, KCorp faced G2 Esports, who had beaten Ground Zero. However, the French gave a Rocket League lesson in this match, beating G2 with a 4-2.

They then faced their main regional rival, Team Liquid. The French already knew what it was like to lose to Team Liquid recently, as they did so in the final of the Winter Invitational with a score of 3-4. Because of this, this match was the perfect opportunity to take revenge, and in what a way they did it, because with a great 4-2, they managed to advance to the Grand Final.

FaZe Clan vs. KCorp – Grand Final Recap

First, we should start by saying that the two best Rocket League teams in the world were facing each other since FaZe is #1 in NA and KCorp is #1 in the US.

The two best teams in their regions and the world faced each other in a spectacular series, where only the one with more determination and concentration could triumph. FaZe managed to leave Complexity Gaming in the way and confidently arrived at this grand final.

In the first match, FaZe had some defensive lapses that KCorp perfectly exploited to win 2-0.

Despite this defeat, FaZe Clan did not give up, as they managed to overcome every defensive approach of KCorp and took the victory in games two and three with a score of 2-0.

After the break taken by the teams in the third game, KCorp came back with their batteries recharged and gave FaZe Clan a humiliating 7-0 thrashing.

Besides boosting KCorp, this victory gave a tremendous blow to FaZe Clan’s morale, which could not recover and ended up conceding in the last two maps. In the fifth game, KCorp took the victory with a score of 3-2 thanks to a goal by Axel “vatira” Touret in the last seconds.

Finally, we had the sixth match filled with a lot of intensity that remained with a 1-1 score until practically the end. However, this time, Amine “itachi” Benayachi scored the winning goal in the last seconds to give KCorp a 4-2 victory.
