Ahead of the playoffs of ESL Pro League S18, we spoke to m0NESY from G2 Esports and asked him a few questions. Here’s the interview:

Why does your team dislike Overpass?

To be honest, I have no idea. I like this map because I played it on Na’Vi Junior. Several of my teammates also like it. But we’ve been playing Vertigo. In fact, G2 had been playing Vertigo even before I joined.

We talked about Overpass and we practiced on it for a while. But at one point we just stopped practicing and no longer had time to prepare on it. However, I would love to play Overpass at some point.

If you could choose your next opponent, who would it be? FURIA, MOUZ, or FaZe?

I think I would choose to play against MOUZ. To be honest, I don’t really care. One year ago, I would have chosen FaZe because I always wanted to play against the strongest team. But right now, I would like to play against MOUZ because they have a new roster and we haven’t played against them yet.

G2 has won two S-tier trophies this year. Are you hopeful that you will win the third at this event, or is Team Vitality a bit too strong at the moment?

I’m not sure about Team Vitality. But if we do what we’re doing now, I think we can win. At the moment, we’re still making some mistakes inside the game, but it doesn’t really matter because everyone makes mistakes.

It’s been almost two years since you joined G2. How do you think you’ve evolved and how has your life changed since then?

I’ve gained a lot of experience. Both in the game and outside of the game. I’m surrounded by great people and great players who can teach me things. They’re more than 10 years older than me and that helps me a lot.

If we exclude the Major, you’ve had an excellent season so far. What do you think are the odds that you will finish the season in the top 5 at the individual level?

I don’t really focus on my individual performance, in the sense that I don’t look forward to individual awards. My focus is on getting trophies with the team. Individual awards are just a bonus.

Who’s playing better at the moment? You or NiKo?

I can’t compare because we’re playing different roles.

Ok. Thank you for the interview and good luck in the matches ahead!

Thank you!
