How to play Morphling in Dota 2 patch 7.32b

Dota 2 patch 7.32 brought a lot of changes to the heroes and some of them got buffed significantly.... Radu M. | 31. August 2022

Dota 2 patch 7.32 brought a lot of changes to the heroes and some of them got buffed significantly. Then, the balancing patch that followed it (7.32b) introduced even more buffs and nerfs. The changes have turned Morphling into a very powerful carry that could potentially be played in the mid lane as well.

Morphling is known for being a strong mid to late game carry. His skill set makes him nearly unkillable in a standard fight. But the hero used to have an important weakness: his low HP when playing with high agility.

This flaw often got him killed because if he got stunned for a few seconds, that would be enough for the enemy team to get the job done. But now that’s no longer the case because you can buy a Shard for just 1400 gold and the problem is fixed. The item allows you to use Attribute Shift while being disabled.

Morphling’s key strengths

Morphling provides a mix of survivability, mobility, and damage. Thanks to his Attribute shift, you can easily reach thousands of HP if needed and become more durable than any other hero in the game.

But as soon as the danger passes, you can morph back into agility and become one of the highest damage dealers in the game. This makes Morphling a very strong hero.

What Dota 2 patch 7.32b did was this:

  • The stat shift is better at level 1, having a value of 5 instead of 3. And its mana cost was reduced from 10 to 5. However, overall the hero was nerfed in this regard, having a stat shift per second of 20 instead of 24 (at level 4) and a mana cost per second of 20 instead of 10. But he’s still stronger than before because of the improved laning phase.
  • Everything about the Morph ability got buffed.
  • Two of the talents were also buffed. At level 25, you gain +35 strength, which is insanely overpowered.
  • Adaptive Strike costs 10 less mana and deals 15 more damage.
  • The base HP and mana regen got buffed by 0.25 and 0.5 respectively.

All of these changes make Morphling’s laning phase a lot easier. And on top of this, Dragon Lance got buffed. The item now gives you +150 attack range instead of +140. This means that the hero can reach 500 attack range, which is almost the same as other ranged heroes.

To make the situation even better, you could potentially buy a Diffusal Blade for just 2500 gold and guarantee yourself a lot of kills in the early game. But you don’t need to do that, because you’ll almost always win the late game.
