After seven years of competing for Astralis, gla1ve has finally left the club. This was an absolutely epic journey for the Danish player, who became one of the most successful IGLs in the history of CS:GO during that time.

He won Major after Major after Major, earning $1.88 million just from tournaments alone. No doubt, 2018 and 2019 were his best seasons, and it’s hard to imagine him repeating those performances with a different club. But he may try to revive his career somewhere else. After all, he’s only 28 and has an enormous amount of knowledge about CS.

One team that might want him is Team Liquid. Another is Team Falcons. Wherever he may choose to go next, he’s guaranteed to do well if he has good teammates.

Gla1ve’s results with Astralis

Gla1ve joined Astralis when he was in his early twenties. He had played for a lot of low-level teams prior to that. Between August 2012 and October 2016 when he joined Astralis, he spent a brief period of time competing for around a dozen different teams. Each time he got better, but had to be extremely patient because things were moving slowly.

The first big team he was a part of was Heroic. But he only spent two months competing for them. Luckily for him, Astralis wanted to sign him and thus began the most epic part of his CS:GO journey, more than four years after he had joined the game’s professional scene.

Success, in just about anything, takes time. Even in gla1ve’s case, it took a long time for him to find the right team. And it probably took years of practice before starting to play professionally. In total, it’s probably safe to say that he needed 7-10 years to become successful.

And, like many other professional players, he had just 2-3 exceptional seasons when he was at the top. But those three years were everything he needed to write his name in Counter-Strike’s history books.

Among his best performances, these are the ones worth mentioning:

  • 1st place at ELEAGUE Major Atlanta 2017
  • 1st place at ESL Pro League S7 Finals
  • 1st place at ELEAGUE CS:GO Premier 2018
  • 1st place at FACEIT Major London 2018
  • Intel Grand Slam Season 1 winner
  • 1st place at IEM Katowice 2019
  • 1st place at StarLadder Berlin Major 2019
  • 1st place at BLAST Pro Series Global Final 2019
