GamerLegion’s Sebastian “volt” Maloș will not be able to participate in ESL Challenger Atlanta due to visa issues, as recently announced by his organization. As a replacement for the event, Andreas “aNdu” Maasing, the star player of the recently founded GamerLegion Academy team, will compete.

The 18-year-old Estonian player has caused quite a stir during his time with sYnck, with whom he won the Gamebox Invitational 2023 in Herning, Denmark, in May. He has yet to debut for GL Academy, which was announced on November 28. The absence of Volt will have an impact on the team’s performance and it will be harder for them to succeed in ESL Challenger Atlanta.

Visa problems for the teams

Volt will be missing from the event and this is a major setback for GamerLegion, who were looking to end the year on a high note after disappointing performances at ESL Challenger Jönköping, Elisa Masters Espoo and BetBoom Dacha. The team finished 5th-6th in the first two tournaments before finishing in last place at the Dubai event after losing 0-2 to Cloud9 and BetBoom. GamerLeagion will compete with Andreas “aNdu” Maasing instead of Volt.

GamerLegion is the second team to participate in the ESL Challenger Atlanta affected by visa issues. BESTIA from Argentina had previously announced that they would be traveling to the US with two replacement players after Luciano “luchov” Herrera and Tomas “tomaszin” Corna were denied visas.

With aNdu replacing volt, GamerLegion’s lineup for the event now looks like this:

  • Isak “isak” Fahlén
  • Janusz “Snax” Pogorzelski
  • Nicolas “Keoz” Dgus
  • Frederik “acoR” Gyldstrand
  • Andreas “aNdu” Maasing (Stand-In)

Ashley “ash” Battye will support the team as coach.

Dates of the ESL Challenger Atlanta

The ESL Challenger Atlanta will take place from December 15 to 17 at the Georgia World Congress Center and offers prize money of 100,000 dollars. GamerLegion has been placed in Group A along with Apeks, Complexity and TheMongolz.

The ESL Challenger Atlanta will feature eight teams plus four additional teams that qualified through the open qualifiers. The schedule for ESL Challenger Atlanta at the Atlanta Convention Center includes three days of exciting matches and tournaments.

Could Volt’s visa problems have been avoided?

There are various ways to avoid visa problems if you want to take part in international esports events. One option is to take care of the visa requirements early on and prepare all the necessary documents. Another tip is to contact an experienced lawyer who specializes in visa matters and can help with obtaining visas. Nevertheless, many professionals often have problems with their visas, which always leads to challenges for the lineup.
