The new era of CS2 continues in full swing, with different tournaments worldwide and teams trying to adapt as quickly as possible to the new game.

In the last few hours, it became known that G2 Esports, the winners of IEM Cologne 2023, withdrew from the CS2 Asia Championship 2023. This is somewhat unexpected news, considering that teams want to play as many tournaments as possible to prepare for the RMR of the first CS2 Major.

However, we must also remember that this tournament will be played at LAN in Shanghai, China, so the team must travel and concentrate on the event.

On the other hand, it was also announced that Wings Up will replace G2 Esports in this tournament.

Perfect World announces that G2 Esports is withdrawing from the CS2 Asia Championship 2023

Through a post on their official Twitter/X account, Perfect World announced that G2 Esports is withdrawing from the CS2 Asia Championship 2023. In addition, they announced that Wings Up, a Chinese team, will be the one to replace them in this $500,000 LAN tournament to be distributed.

G2 Esports will try to prepare as best as possible for the RMR and BLAST Premier: World Final 2023, so they decide to get off the CS2 Asia Championship boat.

Likewise, Wings Up is invited to the event thanks to their third-place finish at the Perfect World Arena PL S5. Recall that the CS2 Asia Championship 2023 will occur from November 8-12, 2023, in Shanghai, China.

Wings Up recently announced the signing of Rasmus “kreaz” Johansson and Dominik “Blogg1s” Janita, two European players for their CS2 squad. However, it is a surprise that the organization decided to play with Tzu-Chi “Marek” Huang and Junhao “ChildKing” Peng, the players they had just replaced by the Europeans.

On the other hand, there is currently no specific reason why G2 Esports has decided to withdraw from the competition. However, this announcement fuels rumors about the possible departure of Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov and Nikola “NiKo” Kovač from the team heading to form a super team in Team Falcons.

These are just rumors

Similarly, these are all just rumors revolving around Team Falcons and the super squad they want to form to storm the CS2 competitive scene.

On the other hand, G2 Esports becomes the second team to jump ship from the CS2 Asia Championship. Remember that Team Liquid did the same several weeks ago after different reports indicated that the organization will renew its roster.

With this, the teams that will play in the CS2 Asia Championship 2023 are as follows:

  • ENCE
  • MOUZ
  • FaZe Clan
  • Astralis
  • NiP
  • TYLOO
  • Lynn Vision
  • Wings Up
