Evil Geniuses beat Version1 to claim VCT Game Changers NA 2023 Series 3 title

The VCT Game Changers first level scene is now history, and after 3 tournaments throughout the season, we can say that it has been a success. Also, it is fair to mention that in this Series 3, we had a pleasant surprise when we saw how Evil Geniuses GC won the champion trophy by beating Version1 girls 3-1 in the Grand Final.

We say it is a surprise because it is no secret that Version1 is the best team in the region in the VALORANT Game Changers. In addition, Version1 had just beaten Sphopify Rebellion GC in the Upper Bracket Final by 2-1. However, EG GC showed great courage and emulated what the organization’s men’s lineup did, which went on to win the VCT Champions 2023 trophy.

On the other hand, the determination and perseverance of Evil Geniuses GC should be highlighted. The girls had to play for their lives in the Lower Bracket from Round 1, as they lost their first match in the Upper Bracket Quarterfinals against Shopify Rebellion by 1-2. However, from that point on, they defeated Disguised GC (2-1), Wingman Patrol (2-0), and Complexity GX3 (2-1) and took revenge on Shopify Rebellion (3-1).

Evil Geniuses GC beat Version1 to become VCT Game Changers Series 3 NA Champions

The Evil Geniuses girls put on a total show throughout the tournament, even more so considering they had to survive in the Lower Bracket from the start. However, the consistency, determination, and great level of play were reflected in this Grand Final against Version1 to take an excellent 3-1 victory.

The Grand Final took place in Bind, Haven, Lotus, and Breeze.

Bind

It all started at Bind, Version1’s map pick, where we enjoyed a match with a lot of intensity and full of emotions. In addition, it is fair to mention that the girls had to define the winner in Overtime.

It all started with Evil Geniuses GC with a very good rhythm of play on their defensive side, which led the girls to take a close victory by 7-5. Then, at the change of sides, Version1 woke up in great shape and, with a great defense, they managed even to map 12-12.

Finally, after four rounds in Overtime, Evil Geniuses GC took the win 15-13 to start the Grand Final on the right foot.

Haven

We enjoyed another intense and exciting match on the second map, Haven, EG GC’s map pick, especially in the second half.

It all started with EG with a devastating pace of play and a spectacular defense, as they managed to take the victory by 9-3. Then, at the change of sides, Version1’s girls woke up, started cutting the score, and even got 11-12. However, the EG GC girls’ attack won the last round to avoid Overtime and take the 13-11 victory.

Lotus

On the third map, Lotus, we saw a similar match to the one played in Haven, but with the difference that Version1 was able to take the victory to stay alive in the Grand Final.

In the first half, the Version1 girls displayed a mind-blowing offense that led them to a 10-2 partial victory. However, EG GC woke up at the change of sides and slowly began to win rounds to get closer to the scoreboard to the point where they were 10-12. However, Version1 was able to win round 23 to take the first victory of this Grand Final by 13-10.

Breeze

Finally, this series’s fourth and last map was played in Breeze, where we also witnessed a game full of emotions from start to finish.

In this opportunity, EG GC girls started very well on their defensive side to take an excellent partial victory by 8-4 in the first half. Then, at the change of sides, Version1 tried their best to stay in the series and put the score 11-10 in their favor. Finally, EG GC won the last 3 rounds to take the 13-11 victory and the VCT Game Changers NA Series 3 championship trophy.
