Valorant has released its first new weapon: the Outlaw. Before the Outlaw, Valorant had never created a new weapon since the game was released.

It is a sniper rifle that can potentially change how Valorant is played.

The community has mixed feelings regarding the Outlaw, but the negative feedback is always to be expected because many people aren’t ready for change. Let’s learn more about the Outlaw so you can decide whether it’s an excellent addition to the game.

What Is The Outlaw?

Purchasing the Outlaw will cost you 2,400 credits, making it a mid-range weapon. The price range is in the sweet spot between the two other sniper rifles, the Operator and the Marshall.

Though you’re paying a decent amount of credits for the Outlaw, the weapon has one of the lowest magazine and reverse space in the game, next to the Shorty. You will have two bullets in the magazine and ten in reserve, so you’ll only have two shots before reloading.

With the Outlaw, you can perform a partial (half) and full reload. Partially reloading the gun is faster than fully reloading the gun, which is a new feature that cannot be found in other weapons. Additionally, you can hear a difference in the audio cue of a partial and full reload.

The interesting part about this weapon is it deals 140 damage to the body, 238 to the head, and 119 to the leg. So, an Outlaw shot to the body is lethal to enemy players with Light Shields or no Shield.

Another cool thing about the Outlaw is you can shoot both bullets while zooming in with your scope; shooting does not break your zoom like the Operator and Marshall.

When Should You Buy The Outlaw?

The Outlaw was released a few days ago, and people are still figuring out the meta with this weapon. However, one of the obvious answers is when the enemy team is on a low buy.

The sniper rifle becomes a good choice during bonus rounds, as enemy players will likely have Light Shields or no Shields since they will be on an eco or a low buy.

Alternatively, you can buy the Outlaw when you know the enemy team will be on an eco. You can one-shot them, and feeding an Outlaw doesn’t seem too bad since it doesn’t feel that great to save it for the next buy round.

How Does The Outlaw Change Valorant’s Current State?

If you have been watching professional Valorant matches and tournaments such as the VCT, many professional players opt to buy Light Shields instead of Heavy Shields in full-buy rounds, even when their economy is in a good state.

Since the Outlaw deals 140 damage to the body, the thought of an enemy having an Outlaw will encourage players to buy Heavy Shields instead of Light Shields.
