ESL One Thailand 2020: Americas – Grand Final Preview

ESL One Thailand 2020: Americas only has one match left to be played. This is the Grand Final and it will take place between Thunder Predator and Quincy Crew. In this article, I will analyze both teams, their odds of success and what they’ve done so far in the tournament.

ESL One Thailand 2020: Americas Results

ESL One Thailand 2020: Americas started with 8 participants. These are all well-known teams from South and North America. But 3 of them were regarded as being considerably stronger than the rest. So it wasn’t a big surprise when these 3 teams ended up in 1^st, 2^nd, and 3^rd place. These teams are 4 Zoomers, Thunder Predator, and Quincy Crew. The first of them has ended its tournament after a crushing defeat at the hands of Quincy Crew. Now we are about to see the Grand Final.

Thunder Predator vs. Quincy Crew

Thunder Predator has shown great signs of strength recently. And not just at this event. The team won the title at Movistar Liga Pro Gaming Season 5, finished 2^nd at OGA Dota PIT Season 2 Americas and had numerous other important results this season. The shocking part is that they don’t have a single star player in their entire roster. This is a lineup forged by sheer effort and determination. And because the other competitors in the region have been slacking during this global crisis, Thunder Predator’s efforts are paying off exponentially more than they would have paid otherwise.

At ESL One Thailand 2020, Thunder Predator finished the Group Stage in 3^rd place, with 4 wins and 3 losses. But then they surprised everyone in the Playoffs, beating Infamous (2 – 1) and 4 Zoomers (2 – 0). This guaranteed them a spot in the Grand Final. But now they have to win it and it’s not going to be easy.

Quincy Crew is widely regarded as the team to beat in North America. In the absence of EG, they’re the strongest competitor in the region. At this tournament, QC started with a surprising loss against 4 Zoomers but then went on to win the next 6 matches. Thanks to this win streak, they won the Group Stage and advanced to the Playoffs. But here they lost again, to the same team that beat them before: 4 Zoomers.

In the Lower Bracket, Quincy Crew found its strength to start winning again and they quickly dismantled Infamous in the first round. Then, in the second round, they met 4 Zoomers again, for the 3^rd time. This time, the troublesome North American team did not manage to trick them as they had done it before. Instead, Quinn, YawaR and the rest of the crew managed to find a way to win. And in fact, they won without too many troubles.

Because of what we saw in the Group Stage of ESL One Thailand 2020, I expect Quincy Crew to win. Thunder Predator may be a strong team, but QC is still considerably stronger.
