After almost three months after losing the MPL PH grand final, ECHO finally took a sweet and well-deserved revenge, denying Blacklist International a double in the M4 World Championship at the Tennis Indoor Senayan.

ECHO managed to show an incredible level after beating the defending champion with a 4-0 score. This victory also meant that Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno, ECHO’s superstar, was crowned for the second time in his career after he did it with Bren Esports in the M2. This makes him the only two-time champion player in the MLBB pro scene.

ECHO takes the win over the defending champions

ECHO becomes the third consecutive Filipino team to win the M series after Bren Esports in M2 and Blacklist International in M3.

Blacklist International made it to these grand finals after quickly getting through the Upper Bracket in the elimination stage by taking RRQ Akira, RRQ Hoshi, and ECHO by storm. With this, the team secured first place in the grand final.

On the other hand, ECHO had a slightly more rough road, as they survived and put on a dominant performance against RRQ Hoshi in the Lower Bracket Grand Final.

Grand Final Recap

ECHO managed to secure the first two games thanks to an excellent performance by Benedict “Bennyqt” Gonzales, using Lunox in the first game and Brody in the second.

Blacklist International tried to respond by selecting Karrie to counter ECHO’s selection of Fredrinn in the third game. But the Orcas were surprised by selecting Gusion by Alston “Sanji” Pabico. This was the first time this hero was selected for the M4 World Championship 2022.

This surprise selection was a complete success, as Sanji appeared to secure some spectacular kills against Kiel “OHEB” Soriano’s Karrie and Salic “Hadji” Imam’s Pharma. This put the score at 23-10 in ECHO’s favor 13 minutes into the match. Then Sanford “Sanford” Vinuya won the MVP award thanks to spectacular plays in the Lapu-Lapu.

The defending champions tried to turn the tables on the grand final in the fourth and final game of the series.OHEB selected Beatrix in an attempt to come from behind. In addition, Johnmar “OhMyV33nus” selected Diggie to try to get a win to help them stay alive in the finals.

However, it all went wrong for Blacklist International, as they could not stop Sanji’s Xavier in the mid to late game.

Finally, ECHO’s victory came at the 16-minute mark, when they caught Beatrix and Barats near the Lord pit. Then, with two fewer opponents, the Orcas went straight to Blacklist’s base to secure the 4-0 win.

With this great victory, ECHO takes home a juicy prize of $300,000. On the other hand, Blacklist International does not leave empty-handed, as with second place; they secure $120,000.
